MBB: Duke 100, Indiana State 62 (November 14, 2025) Postgame Thread

Very fun game. This team is ahead of where last year's team was at game 4. I'm not predicting an undefeated season (yet) but this team has a chance to be extra special.

Of course Cam was absolutely dominant. Just wow.

It's not the headline, but Nik very quietly just missed a 10/5/5 with 9/6/5.

Sarr is playing like what I hoped when we signed him. Incredible defense. A demon in the open court. And one of the best shooters on the team. He looks like an all-ACC player and top 10 draft pick.

Caleb must be reading the board. It's like he was unleashed on offense tonight.

Another game where Caleb and Cayden were on the court together some including for a big part of that decisive 1H run.

Fantastic game by Maliq too. He's everywhere.

That was nice. A 38 point win against a real team when it didn’t look to me like we were playing our best. i’ll hold out for the stats/metrics, but it seemed to me we were a hair sloppy, and, again, won by 38. This might end up being a pretty good team…!
Go Duke! 9F (!)

This team has so many parts. I can't wait to see how we do against serious competition. I feel like Cameron is the quietest superstar we have had, both in style and flair. He just does things fundamentally sound and goes on to the next play.

Last season we had both Coop and Kon to initiate the offense when we were stagnant. Who will fill that role this year?

Ngongba has so much potential. When he gets the same confidence on offense that he has on defense, he will be incredible.

The one greatest part of last year's team that we are missing now is patience. Last year, we worked to get a great shot no matter who was the shooter. This season, we press a bit and force things.

Only gripe is that I've been curious to see who will emerge as our #2 and #3 scorers this year and this game provided the least clarity yet. I was feeling pretty good about Evans but he just had his worst game of the season. Lots of candidates but nobody really taking that bull by the horn. The worry is that when Cam is off or in foul trouble who is gonna be the guy to step up? Not sure we're gonna have an answer to that anytime soon.

I think this team may be built different. Last year it was the Coop and Kon show. This year there are just a bunch of other guys who can create offense off the dribble when needed. Caleb, Cayden, Nik (5 assists tonight), Dame. Both Maliq and Pat can generate offense at the top of the key with their passing and handoff screens. Isaiah and Darren are snipers who demand a lot of attention.

I love how balanced this team is around Cam. I think that's a real strength because it makes us impossible to plan for and defend. The points can come from anywhere.

I got the sense from watching this game that Scheyer was able to install more offensive concepts this week in practice.
Maybe. It looked to me like Jon just told Caleb, "I want you to be more aggressive tonight with the ball". He was driving gaps tonight much more than he did in our first 3 games - still missed some easy ones at the rim. He could have had 18 pts.

at this point last year, that team did not have the patience that you laud. Have patience that this group will develop the patience you hope to see...

nah, he played worse vs. WCU, tonight he only shot 2-8 FGs (vs 1-8 vs WCU) but also had 3-3-2-2 r-a-s-b (vs 6-0-2-1 vs WCU).
Wow, 3-16 FG. Not good.

Surprises me. He had been shooting well prior. Hope he gets back on track soon. We are going to need him badly against strong competition.
