This thread is about actual, reported job openings for head coaches in men's college basketball as we transition to the 2026-27 season... who's out, who's in.

(If you just want to speculate, about Hubert Davis or anyone else, we already have a MBB: Coaching Hot Seat thread for that purpose. Go there.)

I know of 7 Division I openings so far.

09/24: Cal State Bakersfield (Big West) names Mike Scott acting head coach after Rod Barnes resigned

10/28: Wagner (Northeast) suspends Donald Copeland, names Dwan McMillan interim head coach for this season

01/12: Kansas City/UMKC (Summit) is replacing Marvin Menzies at the end of this season

01/17: Air Force (Mountain West) suspends Joe Scott indefinitely, names Jon Jordan interim head coach
02/20: Air Force parts ways with Joe Scott

01/30: Tarleton State (WAC) names Glynn Cyprien acting head coach in Billy Gillispie's absence
02/20: Billy Gillispie (health issues) not returning for 2026-27 season (On3)

02/15: Kansas State (Big 12) fires Jerome Tang, names Matthew Driscoll interim head coach

02/18: San Diego (WCC) is replacing Steve Lavin at the end of this season

I missed this update from 3 weeks ago. Kansas City/UMKC has hired former Maryland coach Mark Turgeon to take over the Roos.

Coach Turgeon, a Topeka native who used to be an assistant coach at his alma mater Kansas and a head coach at Wichita State, spoke to KSHB 41, the NBC affiliate in Kansas City. (The video won't embed. If you're interested, you'll have to click over.)
