I know you guys don't want to hear this (again), but I'm still surprised Hurley wasn't offered the Duke job. Was K a big winner at Army? No but Tom Butters had the foresight to see his potential. As it turns out, obviously Scheyer has done very well.
No Duke coaching background.

Bobby Hurley, my favorite Duke point-guard. Probably the best to ever wear the Duke uniform. Pretty sure he's the only starting Duke PG to ever win two NCAA Championships. Back-to-back matter of fact.

GoDuke!

Bobby Hurley previewed the ASU-Duke exhibition game earlier today.

"It's nice. I'll think about it, look up, and see my jersey up there, and maybe see a couple of those banners, and hopefully that'll give me and the fellas some inspiration."

I found a few season previews of the Sun Devils. Bart Torvik (preseason T-Rank #68) and CBB Review (#75) each projects their 10-man rotation. The latter also points out that freshman Jayden Quaintance will likely face off against Hunter Dickinson when ASU plays Kansas, and there's a 7-year difference between the two.

Despite the overall poor performance last year, Arizona State actually did a good job limiting turnovers last year. They averaged 10.5 a game, 66th least in the country, and 1.2 a game less than the previous year. The problem is, that the guys they brought in through the transfer portal don’t have that same level of ball security. [BJ] Freeman and [Basheer] Jihad combined averaged 7 a game, both finishing top 15 in the country. Alston Mason had 2.4 a game himself, so between just the three of them, they nearly total the same amount the entire Arizona State basketball team had last year.

Cronkite News, Hoop Scoop Media, and Rivals also have preliminary evaluations of Arizona State.

Among the newcomers, freshman center Jayden Quaintance has been a standout throughout the summer. Only 17, Quaintance has “a scary ceiling,” Hurley said.

“You look at him and envision the prototypical physical, rugged player that plays with his back to the basket,” Hurley said. “What’s unique is, he’s more like a point guard than a center. At 6-9 (he) has a diverse skill set with his great footwork, handling the ball, gets down low, and is one of our best passers."

Alston Mason (18 ppg, 4 apg at Missouri State) and BJ Freeman (21 ppg, 7 rpg, 4 apg at Milwaukee) both lit up the scoreboard at their former schools and should join Adam Miller in the backcourt this season. Mason and Freeman are both decently efficient three-level scorers with both shooting 35%+ from three last season even on extremely high usage rates at their former schools.

[Adam] Miller, a solid two-way player, started 21 games for the Sun Devils and averaged 12 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest. His shooting splits (39/30/82) weren’t eye-popping, but they should improve with a better cast of characters around him. One thing is for certain: The Sun Devils will lean heavily on the redshirt senior for his scoring and leadership next season.

There also is a seven year difference between Dickinson, on one hand, and Maluach and Flagg, on the other.

GoDuke!
Gosh, he's the only ACC starting point guard to win two NCAA Championships.

Well, Duke coaching experience or not, he has enough experience to succeed Scheyer if, God forbid, the occasion arises.

It's game day! Excited to see Duke against a D1 opponent, even in an exhibition.
You said it, amigo!

With the final tune-up upon us, here’s what I am excited to see..

-Who starts? Same as Lincoln or with Proctor be back starting? With Brown start? I assume Foster, Flagg and Kon will start again?

-Will we see a team trying to impose its will on the defensive end with varying forms of pressure - full court, 3/4 court, etc? How well can Maluach and Flagg protect the rim?
Will we feel small when those two are out of the game at the same time? How much will we avoid those smaller line-ups?

-Will we be trying to shoot a ton of 3s?

-Will we be pushing the ball, hard, upcourt every possession?

-How will Flagg and Kon handle the attention they draw on offense? Will they be efficient and effective moving the ball in those sitatuons? Will the other guys on the floor with them recognize and benefit from that gravity by making timely and opportunistic cuts to the basket and relocations to open 3s?

-In Game 1, Coach rotated 9 which included Harris and Evans only came in later? Will it still be 9 in the core rotation? Will Harris or Evans be part of it?

-Does Flagg continue to be the dominant presence on the floor? How much will be play through him on offense?

-Will Proctor continue his attacking style?

-Will Kon continue to shoot well?

-Will Gillis’ vocal leadership and gaudy +/- continue to keep him earning solid PT?

-Will we, even this early, outclass a power 5 school?

Welcome home, #11. You’ll always be a legend here.
