Lining up for UNC game

So at 40 I decided it was time and I bought tickets to Carolina at Cameron Indoor. A fortune later, I was wondering about when to get there?

Do doors open an hour early or earlier for Carolina? With tickets, how early should I get there in order to get in relatively early? I wasn’t sure how quick the process of scanning the tickets was.

We are debating renting a car or uber. We are staying near the Bulls baseball stadium so we can get to downtown walking no problem, it’s just getting to Cameron. Will Ubers be available/be crazy expensive on game day?

Any other tips? Thanks!

How about? Walk (or taxi/Uber) to East Campus and take the bus to West. I've done the reverse after a football game.

If you take Uber to Cameron, you can get close. It's the return trip that may be a problem.

The doors open to the public an hour before the game which is when you should be there. Actually, maybe you should be there earlier so you can take in the museum. The suggestion about taking the bus from East Campus makes sense to me.

Also, that east campus is about a mile from
where we are staying which is totally fine for a walk. Will the bus between campuses run before and after the game? Is it a Duke university shuttle/bus or Durham bus?

Duke bus. I think on weekends it runs every ten/fifteen minutes.

Back in the day it was peace on east (buses left at top of the hour, 20 after and 40 after, like a peace sign), Y on west (10 after, 30 after, 50 after). Every 20 minutes. But that was 30 years ago when it went through Central which no longer exists.

And why I remember that I have no idea.
I think the last time I rode the East-West bus was 40 years ago, give or take.

I checked online, the schedule is every ten minutes on weekends. Run two buses, seven minute travel and three minute idling at each of the two main stops. (More buses during weekdays.)

I ride the bus from East a lot. It’s fun to be on it with the students, and I think it is the easiest way to get to a game from downtown. It will also give you a chance to walk through both campuses a little. It’s easy to find the waiting spot where the buses loop around on East (there will be students waiting). It’s only a 5 minute ride but you might have to wait 10-15 minutes or so for the bus to arrive.

Awesome, thanks so much everyone! The bus seems like a good idea. I'm in no big rush as we have nothing set in stone that day, so we can get to campus whenever we want. We will definitely check out the museum. We get in Thursday night, so we have all day Friday and Saturday to play around with stuff.

I still remember my PO Box # next to the Dope Shop. But can’t remember any phone #s other than mine and Ms. Arnie.
