Well Iowa scored like 40pts last game so someone has to take up the slack.Weather forecast says there's a good chance of rain. Add that to two defensive teams still trying to find offense. Expecting a sloppy game with minimal scoring.
Iowa…if Tony Bennett coached football…Well Iowa scored like 40pts last game so someone has to take up the slack.
I've been checking the weather forecast closely and doesn't look like much -- if any -- rain is currently forecasted around game time. Most places show 30% chance of scattered light rain. However, much greater likelihood of considerable rain overnight the night before AND it's projected to be very windy at gametime (18 mph standard winds, with gusts on the lakefront being much much greater I'm sure) and pretty cool temperatures (near 60). I think pretty good "Fall football" weather, but definitely wind may impact kicking ability as well as throws of course. And if field doesn't have good drainage, might be wet from the night before.Weather forecast says there's a good chance of rain. Add that to two defensive teams still trying to find offense. I agree, and that worries me. I'm not asking Murphy to be a running quarterback and would expect few if any designed runs, but the willingness to improvise a successful run when the opportunity presents is something every successful quarterback must do. Even the games most famous runaphobe Tom Brady understood that. I guess it is the zero runs at Texas that concerns me. Zero. Yikes.
Murphy absolutely CAN make those throws, some of those misses were near misses that would have taken a great effort by the WR to haul them in, and they did make a couple of big catches. Experience and chemistry will clean some of that up. I do worry that Murphy's skill set may not truly shine without that elite playmaker at WR or even TE. Pancol and especially Moore are good, but not quite that.
Those big misses were drive killers tho. Theres a time and place for the big shot down the field and there were just too many of them for my taste.

I honestly don't know enough about how much wind impacts throwing ability....but I assume it does? I think we're clear now on the rain/wet field front as seems to be a max of 0.05 inches the night/morning before. But 15mph sustained winds and larger gusts. "Beach hazard" statement is in effect through Saturday with 5-8 foot waves on Lake Michigan. I may be getting wet from that, ha! Joking....If the weather results in a running slugfest, I fear we will come out a bit more bruised than NU. I hope I'm wrong. The fetching Mrs. P can confirm that I often am.
Well, NU is NW of us.Just an FYI, NW is a direction, NU is a school we are playing a game against.

Thanks. Forecasts say north winds 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 30mph.The consensus among the gambling community has been that 10-12mph crosswinds start to impact passing games but it is closer to 20 mph for head or tail winds. Based on the alignment of the practice field/stadium with the Lake, it looks like it may be a crosswind, but winds often are not so conveniently consistent in direction, and the stands and score and video boards could have an impact. The home team should have an advantage from being able to observe some past real world conditions and having practiced passing and kicking in various winds.
I will be tuned in to the Duke game...Just realized that literally no one will be tuned in for this game with the NFL game on. TV rating will be horrid.
Present company excepted. Everyone on the national level will be watching Brazilian Fútbol.I will be tuned in to the Duke game...
Yeah I’m curious how the temporary field shows on TV- my guess is a biggish high school game but hope to be surprised. My guess is we might be better off with few people watching…Just realized that literally no one will be tuned in for this game with the NFL game on. TV rating will be horrid.
