FB: Duke 23, Florida State 16

Yes... Manny does trust Duke's D... that's for sure. And the D came through big-time. Kudos...
Manny Diaz is a virtual savant in understanding and coaching defense.

In his two years at Penn State, the Nittany Lions defense ranked among the best nationally in points allowed, yardage allowed, sacks, and tackles for loss.

And he comes to Duke and now the Blue Devil defense is nationally ranked in those categories. Amazing.

I genuinely cannot believe how good Manny is at coaching. Yes, we have 100% gotten lucky in a few games. Winning 1-score affairs is also notoriously flukey in football. But still, I’d have lost a ton of money if you asked me to bet on if this coach would work. How freakin’ great is this!

This is the best intro to an article about Duke football ever written. It's also the best intro to an article about FSU football ever written.

Haha haha haha haha. (Deep breath.)

Chortle. Guffaw. Giggle. Point and say “HA-ha” like Nelson Muntz. In these divided times, nothing brings us together, all of us, like laughing at Florida State. Go ahead and savor the schadenfreude. It’s glorious.
The school that sued the ACC to get out because it’s allegedly too good for the league is now 1-6 after losing to Duke for the first time in recorded human history, 23-16 on Friday night. The Blue Devils are now 6-1 on the season and 1-22 all-time against the Seminoles, who deserve every bit of mockery that continues to come their way.

Wonderful evening in Wallace Wade Stadium! The defense forcing turnovers was the difference. I’m in my hotel room drinking a beer with a huge smile on my face.
This was such an enjoyable game/evening even my non-football loving wife had a great time (and was impressed with the Duke crowd & atmosphere.) I'm absolutely thrilled that we're 6-1 now so kudos to the team and staff on what they've achieved up to this point. It would sure be nice to see the offense hold up their end of the bargain a bit more at times, but I trust Manny & Co. are doing all they can to remedy that.

It was great seeing CameronBornAndBred, DevilDeac, Ozzie4Duke, and of course Bob Green at the True Blue Cue Crew tailgate again!

Our offensive play calling all season has defaulted to run the ball up the middle on first down for 1-2 yards. I've never seen anything like it. It's bizarre. Wish someone kept stats on this.

We are so much more successful when get creative with our play calls and spread out the defenses
97% run up the middle for 0-2 yard gain on first. I think defenses MAY be on to our offensive plan. Ya think?!

What a victory! (Both the Yanks and Duke gave me some nervous moments!)

I am very proud of Duke, but also impressed with the way Norvell seemed to stay positive in spite of their abysmal record and assortment of bad penalties, dropped passes, turnovers, etc. I can envision some famous coaches throwing things in a similar situation.
