FB: Duke 14, Georgia Tech 24

At least UNC (& overrated Stare, and FSU, and Alabama) lost today. Otherwise would have been a tough day. Unfortunately Midnight Mike got a huge win over a top 10 team.

Very good offensive game plan by tech. They spread. They spread us out defensively kind of made it difficult for us to go north south which is what we like to do
 
Just a poor effort all around. To our credit we made it a game, but we were outclassed all over the field.

5-1 is still good and ahead of schedule. It's remarkable we have that record with such a bad offense.

The bigger picture doesn't look as rosy. Our offense needs a complete rethink, which probably can't happen until the offseason. Not sure if we can rebuild an OL in one off season. Not sure Maalik is going to grow into the guy. Haven't seen much from Brewer's offensive gameplans to feel great about.
 
I think Georgia Tech is good. So for us to hang with them on the road is impressive. I thought going for it 4th and 3 when we could have taken a field goal was dumb. But that didn’t lose us the game. Let’s Go Duke and get a fun bowl game!!!
 
We lost the game by not going for a field goal on at least one of those fourth downs and by the roughing the passer call. That came at the worst possible time. Tech would have punted the ball back to us but instead went on to score a touchdown.

Disappointed.

Agree on that.

OR if we came to play AT ALL for the first 30 minutes!
 
A lot of things contributed to the loss. Star stumbled on the grass on the fourth and three that hurt. Stone’s play eliminated any real opportunity for a comeback. Failure to seize points when they were available. Tough game all the way around. Team loss.

Our, O, sigh, what to say. Our O line is stout., but we MUST create more variety in our offense, and go for higher percentage gains for first downs. I don't know that Murphy can change. He can't move, and shoots rocket passes, sometimes on the mark, but often in tight traffic. We were not able to give Star Thomas enough touches, but also touches in which he had room to maneuver. We had a perfect record coming into this game, but our opponents will become tougher.

I love so much about this team. They have grit. But IMHO opinion, they need better play calling on the O side.

Play calling is pedestrian at best. No innovative plays. Predictable and easy too defend.
