Especially bad for those of us who fly to games. But the football tv money gods must be appeasedJust announced 3:30pm kick next Sat.
(On a side rant- I really hate not knowing FB game times until a week or 2 before the game. All of the BB game times are set through MARCH 2025! Come on FB! I know- it’s a TV thing. But BB is on TV too)
It's apparent that Manny is an absolutely first rate defensive coach. How he has cobbled together his defensive unit is impressive...I think the offense just needs more talent all around....OL, RB, WR, etc...there are some good young prospects on the roster and hopefully this season's success will get us in the door with a higher level of recruit. While disappointed with the outcome loved the fact we came out of the locker room and marched down the field for a touchdown to start the second half. Unfortunately that seemed to wake up Miami. The change in Duke football over the last three seasons makes the future very bright. Jordan Moore’s great game also shows off how good Murphy can be if his receivers run good routes and then catch the ball. One other comment. Miami’s touchdown off the deflection was just bad luck for us. The Miami guy made a nice catch but how often does that deflection go right to him.
The rest of our games are winnable. Expecting great effort over the remainder of the season.
We haven't seen the "next man up" much. Perhaps there's a very large gap in talent that the coaches do see.Very frustrating to see no accountability at QB. Three picks and a fumble should warrant giving the ‘next man up’ an opportunity. MM seems to get a pass….need more consistent production out of our field general.
And, honestly, the QB position is an exception. Even with our frequent complaints about MM being one-dimensional, he has matured and improved in a 2 steps forward-1.5 steps back kind of way. He threw a couple of really nice deep balls yesterday, hit some other receivers in traffic while throwing a couple of stinkers that were intercepted against a team that is more talented that Duke on balance. Two-thirds of the way through a season that, to date, should still be considered a success, you're vested. I question why we don't see a Connette-style package tossed in but I presume the idea has been considered and rejected for reasons not apparent to the casual fan.We haven't seen the "next man up" much. Perhaps there's a very large gap in talent that the coaches do see.

I dunno. He's thrown 8 INTs all season (against 20 TDs), so he nearly doubled his total against the #5 team in the nation. He's also thrown for 2500 yards with a completion rate of 58% and a QBR of 130. Arguably, the offense over-performed this weekend. I'm not sure the right move is just to yank the QB after facing the toughest team he's faced all season.Very frustrating to see no accountability at QB. Three picks and a fumble should warrant giving the ‘next man up’ an opportunity. MM seems to get a pass….need more consistent production out of our field general.
I agree except I think our wide receivers are first rate. It's apparent that Manny is an absolutely first rate defensive coach. Still hoping for at least two more regular season wins, that would be impressive...then throw in a bowl win.
We will find out in the Spring with the NFL Draft. Will either Jordan Moore or Eli Pancol get drafted?I agree except I think our wide receivers are first rate.
325 passing yards, 3 touchdowns and yes 3 interceptions. The first was more like a punt, but to Miami’s credit they made us pay for it. Loftis best game was against UVA with 2 td’s and 270 yards. He had one interception. Riley had 3, repeat 3 td passes in 7 games. By the way Grayson was not much better running the ball. The Belin stats are so few it’s hard to get much of an impression. Henry had zero yards rushing against FSU after Riley was hurt and 1 for 6 passing. FSU last year is somewhat comparable to Miami this year. Not sure who the next man up would be. I don’t see a Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes type on our roster. This is Murphy’s first year as the starting quarterback. In addition about half the roster are new to Duke. 6-3 with 3 winnable games left is amazing for Manny and staff in their first year. Hell, he beat the cheats that should buy some love.Very frustrating to see no accountability at QB. Three picks and a fumble should warrant giving the ‘next man up’ an opportunity. MM seems to get a pass….need more consistent production out of our field general.
Yes, it's easy to be a Monday morning QB even if it's a website. I'm certainly disappointed in some of the things our QB does and doesn't do (run), but he's not an experienced quarter-back and he's not been given much time to throw the ball by our OL. I want to see how he does next season after a full year of Manny recruiting.325 passing yards, 3 touchdowns and yes 3 interceptions. The first was more like a punt, but to Miami’s credit they made us pay for it. Loftis best game was against UVA with 2 td’s and 270 yards. He had one interception. I'm a Bears fan so don't trust the NFL evaluators. We will find out in the Spring with the NFL Draft. Will either Jordan Moore or Eli Pancol get drafted?
I agree with this 100%. But I'm skeptical that an offense can be top tier today without a quarterback who can run effectively.Assuming Maalik is a real "student of the game" (have no doubt that he is), with more game experience, studying game film, etc, I see him minimizing turnovers and continuing to improve. Sure, this game got away from us in the end, but we had a much more talented team on the ropes for awhile even with some mistakes. Here's to continued improvement...by both the team and staff (as they become more familiar with each other's strengths & weaknesses.) As we like to say - next play.
I heard one of the Bears NFL broadcasting crew say they didn't know what was up with DJ Moore's attitude. Said he looks like he's not interested and not completing his routes. This was before their game yesterday. Could it that his QB is not performing well? Especially for a top draft pick.I'm a Bears fan so don't trust the NFL evaluators.
Seriously, I have no idea, but Moore had two catches Saturday that would make the NFL weekly highlights.
yeah, the notion that the coaches are keeping better players on the bench just makes no sense whatsoever...Belin seems to be hurt to some extent, and I just don't see Loftis as good as Murphy, despite the latter's flaws. We haven't seen the "next man up" much. Perhaps there's a very large gap in talent that the coaches do see.

I just don’t know. To be honest I’m old school enough to still believe that games are won and lost in the trenches. Duke’s offense is improving because it’s OL is improving.I heard one of the Bears NFL broadcasting crew say they didn't know what was up with DJ Moore's attitude. Said he looks like he's not interested and not completing his routes. This was before their game yesterday. Could it that his QB is not performing well? Especially for a top draft pick.
GoDuke!
You do this today and he transfers.Very frustrating to see no accountability at QB. Three picks and a fumble should warrant giving the ‘next man up’ an opportunity. MM seems to get a pass….need more consistent production out of our field general.
