The Chronicle has a nice article up on Reigan Richardson.

Following the graduation of the Class of 2025, the guard was named Duke’s senior female student-athlete of the year. The award’s recipients have displayed “athletic success with excellence in the classroom” throughout their time in Durham. The Charlotte native is the first women’s basketball player to accept this honor in Kara Lawson’s tenure as head coach.

“Honestly, it was a surreal feeling,” Richardson said. “It just reminded me that hard work really does pay off, and I credit everyone around me that pushed me to be the best version of myself.”

I love this about Kara. Her main question is, "Will playing against your team make us better?" If the answer is yes, she says, "Let's make it happen!"
I have gripes about Kara, but one gripe I do NOT have is her scheduling. This team is challenged a ton in non conference, playing some of the best mid majors often on the road in addition to the top ranked teams.

Is she expected to be good enough to play? I remember being stoked when Louann Battiston announced for Duke.
I don't know the answer for sure, but her highlight reel didn't really impress me. She has a nice shooting touch, but her release is quite slow, she's not fleet of foot, and she's already 19. My guess is that she's more of a practice player.

Hard to say. For girls basketball -- not just Wikstrøm's former U18 team -- FIBA ranks Norway 34th among 46 European teams, and 74th worldwide. I guess that could say something about the country's talent pipeline?

I found a separate FIBA player page for Wikstrøm with game-by-game stats from the U18 Eurobasket tournament in August 2024. In 7 games, she was her team's leading scorer, averaging 15.4 points. Their record was 2-5. (The video I posted above are her highlights from these games.) Without knowing anything about her team or the level of competition, I can't draw any conclusions here.

One thing I did notice is that she plays club basketball for the Ulriken Eagles (jersey #25), and that team won the BLNO 2025 women's championship over the Asker Aliens back in April. They swept the first 2 games in a best-of-3 series. Here are the highlights.

I'm pretty sure Christopher Nolan directed this video, because it's edited out of chronological order. We see the final score of the second game about 3 minutes in. I could not tell you if we're watching parts of two games or one. In the celebration at the end, Wikstrøm holds a tiny trophy in the team photo op and is getting interviewed on TV.

What I can tell you is that Eurobasket has box scores for Game 1 (March 29) and Game 2 (April 1). Wikstrøm had 19 points (5-13 FG, 1-5 3PT, 8-8 FT), 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block in the first game, and 15 points (6-17 FG, 0-3 3PT, 3-5 FT), 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block in the second game.

If it helps provide context, two of the players in these games used to play in the NCAA. Wikstrøm's teammate Stine Austgulen is 12 years older -- she's the one holding the baby in the celebration -- and used to play for Colorado State (2013-2018, stats from Sports Reference), where she started as a junior and senior. In the BLNO title games, she led the team in points both times, scoring 20 and 18.

One of the Asker Aliens players, Natalie Villaflor, is American. She played college ball more recently, from 2018-2022 mostly as a reserve for Robert Morris, and 2022-2023 as a starter at Mount St. Mary's (stats).

I looked a little deeper, and I think I'm getting closer to answering your question.

Anna Wikstrøm turned 19 in April, which means she's aged out of Norway's U18 team. So I looked for the national team of "Senior Women" -- the one that would play in the Olympics if they qualified -- and I found this official page, which Google can translate to English.

Wikstrøm is one of 26 players who are attending training camp in Oslo this weekend to make the team. What's interesting is that 4 of them are playing for or recently graduated from an NCAA Division I team, one in the ACC.

Maria Myklebust, 6-1 forward, Vermont (2021-23) and Florida Atlantic (2023-25): UVM bio, FAU bio, stats; came to USA to play high school ball at Montverde Academy; started half of her games senior year at FAU; averaged under 5 points per game.

Sophia Priestley, 6-0 forward, San Francisco (2025-?): signed in April as a freshman, like Wikstrøm. They were teammates for Norway U18. In last year's tournament, Wikstrøm led in scoring, while Priestley led in rebounds and assists.

Karyn Sanford, 6-0 guard, Albany (2022-23), Tarleton State (2023-2025), Utah State (2025-?): UAlbany bio, TSU bio, USU signing, stats; attended high school in Norway; started 7 games in 3 collegiate seasons; averaged under 5 points per game.

Aurora Sørbye, 5-9 guard, Wake Forest (2024-?): bio, stats; attended high school in Norway; started 12 games as a freshman (23.5 mpg); averaged under 5 points per game.

Each player was prominent at the teenage level in Norway, winning MVPs and All-Tournament recognition. Of the three with current or completed college careers, each carved out a rotation role with occasional starts. Wake Forest is in a high-major conference, but in ACC play has had only one winning season (1987-88) and one .500 season (2009-10) in its 44-year history.

Historically, Duke WBB is at another level from these other schools, even Wake Forest. So I can't say that Anna Wikstrøm's game will similarly translate to "rotation role with occasional starts".

Swedish players have had more success than Norwegian players. Duke pole vaulter in NCAA finals is from Norway. I think he has cleared 17’5 height

Simen Guttormsen. His personal best is 18'8.75" which won this year's NCAA D1 indoor championship. Last week's 17'5" was just to qualify for the outdoor championships.

Duke WBB has started a video series called Devils in the Details.

Episode 1: Duke head coach Kara Lawson sits down with Duke legend, former Duke head coach Gail Goestenkors for a conversation about the history, growth, and future of the program.

Coach G used the phrase "Eight is enough" before Coach K did, and for a better reason. The 2001-02 WBB team had a total of 10 players, and 2 of them transferred mid-season. So they literally had 8 players on the roster. Made the Final Four anyway.

Love Kara's emotion.

That video/interview was awesome! I really enjoyed Coach G while she was here n so glad she’s back n enjoying the program she helped build. Kara love that you use the past n are building on it n keeping it involved with the present team.

This is absolutely wonderful. What a treat. Can you imagine Coach P doing this? Don't answer that.

Hailey just completed her sophomore year so I'm not sure about the grad part.

Edit: Wait this is so confusing. Looks like she redshirted 22-23, then played 23-24 and 24-25. It's possible she did graduate in 3 years
