Dukies on the 2025 PGA and LPGA Tours

Big day for Alex. If he makes the cut, I believe he'll have better than a 90% chance of making next week's Signature Event at Pebble Beach.

Looks like perfect weather, around 70 with no wind. Expect the cut to be -2, maybe even -3. He's at +1 so he has a lot of work to do. His 4-putt yesterday may have cost him a lot.

Alex probably done, +2 through 7. He still has a chance to make next weekend, few of the others contending for a spot are doing much better.

On #8, his playing partners just sank birdie putts of 20- and 28-feet. He missed an 11 footer. If he would fix his putting he'd be a top-10 golfer.

Greyserman (T40) and Streelman (T55) make the cut at Torrey Pines.

Round 2 finished this morning after high winds caused delays yesterday.

Yeah, that's why the cut moved the other way. The Tour website showed winds were 11 MPH (2 MPH in the morning) and I didn't bother to double-check with weather.com. Can't trust anybody anymore!

Alex is currently sitting 6th in the AON Swing 5 but it's completely out of his hands, I'd guess his chances are 50-50 of moving up a spot. Those Signature Events are so important, not just for the huge money but the points for the non-winners. Sure the winner gets a 40% bonus (700 vs. 500), but the bonus is much greater for other finishers:

5th: 300 vs. 110
10th: 175 vs. 75
20th: 100 vs. 45
etc.

So a 20th place finish next week is like a 6th place finish this week.

Kevin Streelman finished Round 3 at -1 (69) to improve to E overall. He is currently T41 with golfers still on the course.

Max Greyserman carded a +2 (74) to fall to +2 overall. He is T57.

Farmers Insurance Open Round 4 tee times. Both Duke golfers teeing off on #10:

Streelman (T41) - 12:43 pm EST
Greyserman (T57) - 1:27 pm EST

Streelman shot -1 (71) for the second consecutive round to finish the tournament at -1. He is T14. Great tournament for Kevin.
Kevin is now 70th in 2025 FedEx points. That’s good news, but as season progresses he will have more limited opportunities due to his status.

Greyserman tees off at 12:53 EST at Pebble Beach (Spyglass Hill course) in a loaded field. This will be a good test to see where Max stacks up with most of the best players in the world (excluding LIV).

Greyserman cards a -2 (70) today. He was -4 through 11 holes before a bogey on 12 and double bogey on 13 set him back. He finished with a birdie on 18.

Max is currently T53.

Alex and Max playing next week in Phoenix, and Kevin gets another sponsor's exemption. If he keeps playing well, it looks like he'll have no shortage of opportunities this year.

Alex has never played the event so no idea what to expect, but a good showing could get him into the following week's signature event at Riviera. Max hasn't played here either. Kevin last played in 2023 when he missed the cut. Doesn't appear to be a particularly inviting place for Dukies.

Couldn't find out much about the WD, but apparently is his hand. While trying to find out, I came across this article that Max almost quit golf after wrist surgery in 2022. Being over 2 years ago I doubt this current problem has anything to do with that. I hope we'll find out more over the next few days.

In the short video at the top of the article, Max discusses the above. If you're really interested in Max, the video at the bottom of the article is the hour-long interview.

In his first tournament of the season, Rory wins going away.

I imagine Max will withdraw from next week's event, he has little to gain since he's already in the following week's signature event. Plus, his 1st Masters is just 2 months away and I'm sure he doesn't want a lingering injury.
