Dukies on the 2025 PGA and LPGA Tours

Saturday tee times at the PGA Championship:

Greyserman (T62) 08:15 am EDT #1
Smalley (T7) 2:05 pm EDT #1
Weather delay. No update on when they expect to get started. If it's for very long, expect them to go to threesomes. After the lightning passes, they typically give the guys some time on the range.

Third round will start at 11:43 with threesomes:

Off 1 and 10 as well. So oddly, the leaders will tee off about an hour earlier.

Also oddly, as I believe it was tooold explained a few weeks ago, those who would have teed off 1st are now going off 10 at roughly the same time as the leaders. So Max went from 1st tee time to last.

Alex 1:22 EDT
Max 1:49 EDT

Yep, not happening for Alex. Max playing a bit better.
Checked back in, my absence didn't work. Even his pars are terrible. Now, he could fight back to even on the day, find some magic overnight and post a 63 tomorrow. But not looking good. Now hoping for a top-5, which would still be great in a major.

Horrible day, the tourney was there for the taking. His driving was very, very good for the most part...irons and putter, phew. How do you 3-putt from 6-1/2 feet? Without a miraculous chip in on the 17th it would have been worse. Tomorrow is a new day, let's get into the top 5.

"There for the taking?" Scottie at -11 looks to be running away with it. Alex at -2 can make up some ground today, I hope.

Max overcame a double bogey [a drive into the water] to record a -4 67 and is T17 at -3.

Yeah, that's right. And Scottie took it. Alex was 1 shot behind him at the beginning of the day. As you pointed out Max shot a -4 (as did others, and Noren, who is 206 in the FedExCup and has never won on the Tour, shot -5) so Alex could've kept pace. He shot a -4 on Thursday, so he could've done it again and be sitting in 2nd place and have a chance. If he'd done it Friday as well (at one point he was alone in 2nd at -7, one shot back) he'd be in the lead. Instead he's +5 over his last 26 holes.

Could've. If. But that's why Scottie is a champion and Alex isn't there yet. I expect he will be some day.

Sunday tee times at the PGA Championship:

Smalley (T23) 12:20 pm EDT #1
Greyserman (T17) 12:50 pm EDT #1

Both our guys with afternoon tee times on Sunday in a Major Championship.
I've been closely following Duke players on PGA since Joe Ogilvie first started and easy to track with the new website concepts🫠.

I don't recall 2 of our guys sniffing a major on Sunday afternoon in past 25 years or so.

Alex and Max in Fort Worth this week. Alex has a chance with a good showing to make the following week's signature event, he's currently T5 in the AON Swing 5. I hope he bought a new putter.
