Dukies on the 2025 PGA and LPGA Tours

After fighting back after a terrible start, Alex cards a snowman. Never in the rough, included a 4-putt. WTH
Back to back 76’s and a secondary field. The snowman and 4-putt tell me he completely lost his focus (aka John Daly?).

Yep, the 72 best players were in Hilton Head. He had 1 of the 3 worst rounds today, and 1 of the 3 worst weekends. He gets less than 3 points and is projected to drop 8 spots to #63. After the 3rd event of the year he was #26, and in his past 5 events he's had 3 missed cuts and 2 weekend collapses. Quite the fall.

Speaking of fall, if he doesn't arrest this plummet he will be scrambling to keep his card in the FedExCup Fall again. This year only the top-70 who make the playoffs are guaranteed their 2026 cards. Then he would have to finish in the top-100 (NOT top-125) of the Fall to keep his card. He's fast approaching dangerous territory.

Max isn't doing much better, he's projected #62. The difference is that he's in the majors and signature events.

They're both playing in the pairs event next week in Louisiana. 20% less points available.

Greyserman made some birdies on the back nine, but also three bogey. He finished at -8, probably just outside the top 25. He had a good tournament.

Smalley is really up and down the past years or so. I hope he regains his earlier form.

With the exception of this tournament (not this year, obviously), Alex has always played terribly in March and April. It's always his worst 2 months of the year. Perhaps he has really bad allergies which affect his general well-being, it doesn't take much at this level to make a difference. I expect him to turn it around and make the playoffs, but it's no sure thing.

Alex is teamed with Stanford grad Joseph Bramlett (so they have the brain train) and in the 1st groups off at 7:00 CDT.

Max is teamed with Nico Echavarria and off at 12:44 CDT.

Alex and Nico are the ones who got to choose their partners.

Duffers. Isaiah Salinda and Kevin Velo are -10 through 9.
They don't birdie the par-5 18th, and still put up a 58. The Hojgaard brothers put up a 59.

The morning groups are in, and Alex/Joseph are T16. So they can be expected to fall to about 30th. The cut is the top 33 pairings and ties, so they're not to the weekend yet.

The worst round of the morning was -5, and only one of those. So that excellent round was average, which is crazy. Max and partner are -4 through 8 with a par-5 coming up, so he's right on target, probably better.

Max & Nico didn't finish well yesterday, and they're +2 through 3 today to fall to -4 and T77. Currently DFL, they need to get it in gear in a hurry.

Generally speaking, Max needs to find his late-season form from last year. Outside of the playoffs, his final 5 tournaments last year were 2, 2, T2, 4, and T7.

Not happening for Max today - already +2 after 3 holes and down to -4

Well Max’s team righted the ship and ended up -4 for the day and -10 overall. Cut line is now -9 so hopefully it doesn’t move any more…
