Duke Women's Soccer 2024

I don't follow all of the threads, so excuse me if this has been addressed. Has any Final Four in any college sport ever been composed entirely of 1 conference? Google is not being my friend.

I don't know for sure, but it seems like it must have happened in the earlier basketball days.
In the earlier basketball days only one member of a conference could make the tournament. It certainly has never happened in Men’s basketball although 1985 had 3/4 from the Big East.

What a big game.

I've seen all three games against UNC this year. Duke has only allowed multiple goals in a game three times this season, and two of those games were against UNC. In the third game, UNC looked particularly dangerous with its full roster of players. The good news is that we have outscored them 5-4 on the season. I expect both offenses to apply lots of pressure, and it could come down to who can convert on their opportunities. It will be a very, very intense night.

This is a massive game for our women. Not only are they playing in the college cup, going up against their biggest rival, and trying to win for their retiring coach, but they are also trying to finish off a magical season (the best in school history on most dimensions). I hope they don't let the moment overwhelm them...some of the interviews yesterday suggested they are approaching that point. Given the confidence they have played with all season, I expect they will not let that happen once the whistle blows.

I have seen many Duke sports teams over the years, and this one is at the top of the list as an easy-to-cheer-for group. They play together, play hard, play with confidence, and play with joy, and they have been brilliant.

As great as our athletic program is, these opportunities are rare and very special. The girls have been the best team this season, and man, do I want them to realize their goal.

Let's go Duke!
Couldn't agree more. My wife and oldest daughter are former college soccer players and big fans of the sport generally, and I've watched my fair share as well. This team is absolutely special in every way. We were at the BC game, which might have been the most impressive team performance I've ever seen - just an utter beat down of a respectable D-1 program.

Yeah, definitely not basketball. I would have expected to know that. I was thinking maybe it had happened in field hockey or the Frozen Four or the like.

De Luz’s comments are spot on
If Wake’s attackers are just a wee more patient in their passing, they can prevail

I paid over $400 for a pair of tickets so I could take my 14 y/o to the game tonight. Those are Cameron prices! I could have likely saved a lot of money buying outside the stadium, but didn’t want to risk it.

I have watched the Duke women play many times over the years, and I think this is the first time I’ve had to pay. Worth it to expose my daughter to this Duke team.

Now the real game is about to start! Winner plays Wake for the national championship n loser goes home. So hoping Robbie gets to coach on Monday for a National Championship!! Let’s go Duke!!
