Duke Women's Soccer 2024

Interesting set-up for tonight's game: We are the top seed in the ACC tournament, win, lose, draw. However, Virginia Tech and Wake face bottom-half teams at home, and while FSU is on the road, their opponent is in a three-way tie for second-from-the-bottom with just one ACC win. So, if Duke wins tonight, but all those other playoff-contending teams also win, uNC could be seeded fifth in the ACC. If I have the tournament seedings right, that means they'd have to win twice before possibly seeing us in the final. Also, the game will have national ranking implications, and a win would do a lot to preserve our current hold on the top seed in the NCAA tourney.

It's a big game, to say the least.

It is glaringly apparent that University of North Carolina does not have the pace on the outside to keep up with Hase and Oliaro. DUKE is exploiting the mismatches early and often.

Halfway home in the 1st half and Duke has dominated possession. UNC forced to park the bus and put 9-10 behind the ball. Neither I nor the announcers have seen UNC do this….ever.

Carolina was the better team over the lst ten minutes of the half. Duke needs to switch back on.
I’ll respectfully disagree. Heels are in full fledged panic mode. Aside from 2 fifty yard long balls they have had zero offense. Duke has dominated the midfield….dominated. They rarely were able to string 2 passes together as Duke for the first time ever is the more athletic team. Faster and better disciplined.
