Duke Track and Field 2025 ACC Champs!

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – History was made Saturday evening for Duke track and field as the Blue Devil men parlayed a phenomenal day of competition into their first ACC Championship – indoor or outdoor – in program history.

Duke's men culminated the three-day conference meet with a strong final day of competition posting medals in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m events while totaling 29 points for the day, finishing the weekend with 86 points to lock down the first-place finish. The Blue Devil women also competed well on Saturday with the team medaling in four events – the 200m, 400m, 4x100m and 4x400m – en route to finishing fifth overall with 72 points.

Overall, the Blue Devils concluded the 2025 ACC Outdoor Championships with titles in the men's hammer throw, men's pole vault and women's 4x400m relay. Duke totaled 14 medals and 33 All-ACC honors.

Here are the final team scores for both Men and Women:

This is a really big deal, as it involves dozens of athletes.
I concur. You need to have some solid athletes across the board to win a team title. Duke Track & Field has had some stellar athletes in some events over the years who made their presence known at both national and international levels, but this is something I didn't realize we were capable of doing now (shows you what I know.) Thanks for sharing. I had the great pleasure of my dad (Duke undergrad and MDiv.) taking me to the USA/USSR and USA/Pan Africa meets many years ago at Wallace Wade, so I developed a love for what's essentially a "3 ring circus" of athletic events, much like gymnastics obviously. Congrats to everyone associated with the track & field program! It's all the more sweet as the men edged out the program down the road (the school whose AD is Jordon Hudson. ;) )

This table best illustration of the big ACC mistake. BC provides nothing athletically and I seriously doubt any TV ratings.

Oops, bad link. BC had 3 total points in men’s and women’s T&F combined.

Yeah, it definitely takes a number of contributors to win a team title.

There is an emerging star in Joseph Taylor, with these performances in the conference championships:
44.98 for 2nd in the 400, a new school record
20.55 for 3rd in the 200, a new school record
44.93 split in the 4x400 relay, another school record of 3:04.49

And he's a freshman

They have a pretty good chance at an NCAA title in Wlax

I have to think the BC men scratched for some reason given they finished in "-" place as opposed to a number.

At least something good came out of the weekend for Duke. I never thought that would happen in my lifetime given how much of an afterthought T&F is at most schools.

not sure what that proves. They're a lot better than Duke at men and women's hockey, which will matter when the Canadians invade.
Football (and to a lesser extent hoops) are what matters when it comes to TV ratings, which is why Nina has worked so hard to improve our program. All of the ACC's private schools, of which there are now quite a few, lack the giant alumni bases found in the B1G and SEC.
Such is life.

Hah. I can see Canada invading to steal one our NHL teams since they can't win the Stanley Cup with who they currently have.

I'm a Caps fan, but I thought it would've been poetic justice for Winnipeg to win it all this year. Now rooting for Edmonton, in part because Florida in no way deserves to have a winning hockey team.

Does North Carolina? - asking for a friend.
Yeah, sort of.

The irony with North Carolina is that when the Hurricanes first moved, they played in Greensboro before tiny crowds. I was a grad student at Duke at the time, and with my student ID, I could get upper-level tickets for $15. I went to the box office one day, and they handed me a ticket for the lower level. When I asked why I got a lower-level seat, the ticket agent essentially said that they were desperately trying to fill the lower bowl.

So for $15, I sat a few rows away from actual NHL hockey.

Greensboro had one of the best-attended ECHL teams for years. Then they got an AHL team, and attendance dropped. The players were exponentially better. The AHL is basically the equivalent of AAA baseball, but the ECHL is nowhere near as good as AA baseball. It was basically games against the same old regional rivals who were always good for a few good punch-ups each game. AHL players were dazzling compared with their ECHL counterparts, but fans weren't into it.

But I have a hard time rooting against a Triangle-based team. The place is too near and dear to my heart.

Until they play the Caps, and then &$#@^&^# them for winning again. (Hey, the DC area is hurting right now. People losing jobs -- which, whether you support the politics behind it or not, is traumatic. The Wizards are atrocious. The Nationals aren't much. DC United is a faint shadow of what it once was. The Washington Spirit would be a great team if they could ever get more than half of their superstars healthy, but that's not happening. The Kennedy Center is being boycotted for reasons not worth going into here. Local hero Dave Grohl had a kid with a woman who was not his wife. Basically, we have the Capitals, the Wharf, and a lot of prayers that Jayden Daniels doesn't take too many hits.)

To tie things back to the point of this thread -- the DMV does have Quincy Wilson. Could Duke throw enough money his way to get him to make this team even better?

agreed, which is too bad....I remember some epic track meets at Wally Wade.
I remember them well. Great to watch. The meets also featured some good contacts between Duke and cross-town NC Central. Duke had Al Buehler and NC Central had the great coach Dr. Leroy Walker. Both were prominent in national and international track circles; their friendship was a plus for the schools and Durham in general.
