Duke Softball 2025

Besides not understanding to walk the batter, even harder to understand is intentionally walking with pitches that go over the plate, even if thrown high. Is throwing to the side not allowed in softball or something?
In reports this morning, Canady takes responsibility for the error. She has not pitched an intentional walk this season. She’s programmed to throw strikes and just could not crack that mentality. According to the NCAA rule book all four pitches must be thrown. There is no specific “pitch out” rule. The rule book does not address the catcher lining up outside the box or standing up before the pitch is thrown.

I don’t have an answer for this but I wonder if the catchers are afraid to stand to the side like they do in baseball because with just 60 feet between third and home they worry it might invite a steal of home.

My least favorite part of softball is that one woman can literally make every pitch of a 3-game series for a team
I mean yes but it’s very taxing and difficult to do, which is why Texas is using their 1-0 lead not to do it.

And it does mean the regional format is less awful than baseball where teams basically have to either overuse pitchers or throw guys out there with no experience or trust because there’s no other way to do four or five games in a weekend.

And as if to refute me, Texas brings back their ace to try to keep this game close for three outs
