In reports this morning, Canady takes responsibility for the error. She has not pitched an intentional walk this season. She’s programmed to throw strikes and just could not crack that mentality. According to the NCAA rule book all four pitches must be thrown. There is no specific “pitch out” rule. The rule book does not address the catcher lining up outside the box or standing up before the pitch is thrown.Besides not understanding to walk the batter, even harder to understand is intentionally walking with pitches that go over the plate, even if thrown high. Is throwing to the side not allowed in softball or something?
