Duke Football 2025

We now know the date and opponent for our first 4 games, 3 of which are at home.

I'll be happy (and unsurprised) if the 27th is a bye for us. The following week wouldn't be bad for a trip to California.

Some, ok, me, speculated Jim Knowles would be a good fit to replace the infamous Midnight Mike. Turns out Jim can eke out a comfortable living without the headache of managing NIL.
I was leading that bandwagon as well. He made a lot of sense. Very happy with where we ended up. And happy he seems to be doing well. Interesting that he is moving to a lateral position within the conference. $$$

Please excuse my ignorance, as I don’t follow football recruiting closely. Is the football recruiting over for the year? I seem to recall that in past recruiting seasons, Duke’s classes rate higher early in the season than at the end of the recruiting season. Possibly due to signing a high number of 2 or 3 stars early, while the “powerhouses” tend to sign their 4 or 5 star players later, due to the higher rated players waiting to find out their best option$.

My understanding is that while it is not technically over it is pretty much baked as a practical matter, which is why Rivals has released these updated rankings that the media are calling "final."

And this is why we can’t have nice things, Barry.
IMO all phrasing propriety was defenestrated when they came up with that name for the game with the bean bags and plywood boards and a hole which drunks play before football games. Some years ago we were having an outdoor dinner with a friend in her eighties who grew up in Brooklyn, she saw people playing said game, and asked what it was called. Categorically refused to believe me when I told her, she had to look it up on her phone, then she howled with great delight.
