Duke Football 2025

Time for a new Duke Football Thread for 2025.

Two of our new recruits that have already enrolled for the spring semester have been named First Team All Americans by Max preps.

Pretty impressive. Only other ACC teams with recruits on the 1st team are Miami with 3 and Clemson and FSU with one each.

More good news:
Great news on Tre. Loved our primary LB rotation this year and how we presented different looks with and without the more strong safety-esque Bergeron. We will miss him, Nicholas and Howard for sure but it will be good to have Freeman and, presumably, Nick Morris back.

FYI, Duke incoming four star freshman Bradley Gompers will play today at 1 pm on NBC in the All American Bowl.

Idk man, let the kid enjoy his senior year of high school. The world makes people grow up too quickly already
I completely agree. Young people: enjoy the process. Pray for the patience to enjoy the process of learning about life. Remember, youth is wasted on the young. Someday....

yeah, I'm not completely sure how a bunch of these kids manage to graduate early...nice if they can get to Duke early, but for many I don't think leaving 5-6 months early is an option. Wish it had been for me.

Some schools do not allow early graduation, not sure if that is the case here or not.

Either way, I’ll gladly take Gompers whenever he steps off the bus in Durham.
for sure. I just wonder what are they teaching in school if you can afford to leave 5-6 months early?

My second semester senior year after I was accepted to Duke was an attendance joke. I think I HAD to attend Gym and lunch. Of course, that was in the late 1500's, IIRC.

Most states have specific requirements to graduate that aren't too hard. For instance, you often need four full years of English, so you double up on that in the fall. Plus most top football recruits know they are top recruits pretty early in HS, so they can start adjusting their course load appropriately (as opposed to the Marvin Bagley "cram in a bunch of sketchy classes at the 11th hour" option - I can call out Duke for sketchiness when I see it).

I agree that these students are missing out on a big part of the HS experience, both socially and academically, so might not be ideally prepared for college. But at the same time, think of all the HS seniors who just got into college early decision. I'm guessing many of them are largely checked out for the spring and not exactly splitting atoms in the classroom.
