Duke Blue Planet: 2025-26 Season

He can maybe text, but I don't think he's going to be on the bench and able to provide running commentary like he did at CTC. I think the NCAA still limits the number of coaches permitted during the games, so unless they kick someone else to the curb, Tatum won't be sitting on the banch at all, will he? Unless the rules have changed.
Wait, the NCAA still has rules?!

Let’s think outside the box here. Programs are bringing in 25 year old pros from overseas these days. Who cares about amateurism rules these days? So, why wouldn’t an NBA player still have eligibility for college hoops? Just let JT dress with the team while he rehabs.

Just after the 3:00 min mark, Scheyer: "Jayson's going to be a part of our team, from afar." He may be in Durham slightly more frequently due to rehab right now, but it looks like the idea is for him to be a remote resource during the NBA season.

Scheyer coaching up a storm, at least in the edited clips. Not happy with the team at the start, and also said he shouldn't see anyone making the same mistake twice. At the end of the practice, he was nice about it, telling the team that it's only Day 1.

Quite a few Dame highlights.

Looks like Coach Bradds had his own knee procedure, as he's limping a bit and wearing a big brace on his right leg.
Apparently he tore his meniscus. CJS talks about how hard fought the practices are and how many people got injured. Amile Jefferson apparently got banged up as well.

If our coaches keep getting injured during practices, we might have to bring in some of those managers (or whoever they were) who scrimmaged the women's team at CTC to help out.

Scheyer's half-time speech looked and sounded amazingly like Coach K... leaning forward, hands on his knees... employing "trust". Also his "are you kidding me" phrase when talking about giving up 15 offensive rebounds.

Episode 11: "Big road wins at FSU & Louisville, plus Showtime Slim & Nik Khamenia mic'd up!"

Thanks... loved it. Really interesting half time speech in the L'ville game by Scheyer... I liked it. And after the L'ville game, his speech to the team... looked like he got emotional... seemed to wipe his eyes a few times. You can tell it meant A LOT to him to have his guys fight as they did. GO DUKE!!!

Yeah that speech was fiery and did the trick

Perhaps Coach Scheyer correctly realizes that he can be more effective in producing positive results by getting fiery with his players in the locker room rather than with the officials on the court. And count me as one Duke fan who is glad he operates that way.
He seems to consistently have great halftime adjustments. One thing I notice and appreciate - strong second half play when being challenged in the first.

Good stuff for sure. Always proud of how team-oriented and humble most of our players come across.
One observation: It looked like Nik was practicing without incident. I know CJS has mentioned his ankle issues and not being able to practice but i didn't see any obvious signs of him being limited at what i assume was a very recent practice.

Triggered a memory from '65, but without a C. :)
