The reference was that the parking lot was NOT paved while Bill Foster was here. John Feinstein referenced it in his book. Forever’s Team. The parking lot was last paved during the coaching tenure of Bill Foster? If so, oh brother, not good. No wonder Chris P and all his coached fled town.
No. In the 70's it was the same grass and stone combo that it was back in my intramural days. The reference was that the parking lot was NOT paved while Bill Foster was here. John Feinstein referenced it in his book. Forever’s Team.
Skylar Meade head coach TroyJosh Jordan would be a terrific hire if we can pull it off.

Man, you just don't get it. Chris Pollard is the most gentlemanly gentleman who ever gentlemanned. HE IS AWESOME. HOW DARE YOU.Much like with Midnight Mike, I don't have a problem with Coach Pollard leaving. I have a problem with the timing of his leaving. I think waiting 24-48 hours to make the announcement would have made all parties, especially Coach Pollard and UVA, look better. Announcing it less than 24 hours calls many things into question. In my opinion, negotiations during the tournament were, however slight, a distraction from preparing the team and coaching. I can't believe all negotiations started after the final out. At least he talked to the team before he left.
I do thank him for all the wonderful things he did to elevate Duke baseball.
I hope this situation lights a fire under the administration and potential donors to get the improvements moving faster.
Jordan has a great shot at being a national champion by the time we make an offer. His LSU team is 2-0 in the CWS and is in the driver's seat to make it to the championship game.Skylar Meade head coach Troy
Dan Skirka head coach Murray State
Josh Jordan asst coach LSU
According to D1 Baseball, these are the 3 primary candidates. They also say that it is Jordan’s if he wants it.
Which is why we're still waiting.Jordan has a great shot at being a national champion by the time we make an offer. His LSU team is 2-0 in the CWS and is in the driver's seat to make it to the championship game.
I can't speak for Jordan, but most assistants dream of their own program. The national title isn't going to change that desire. Jordan grew up in NC and checks a lot of boxes. I'm not sure if he'll stay more than 3-4 years, however.Jordan has a great shot at being a national champion by the time we make an offer. Thanks for the advice, sincerely. I hope my reply was sufficient. I’m not trying to come here and ruffle any feathers. I want what you all want, and that is for Duke to kick a** in everything. You joined DBR last week, apparently to read about/defend Coach Pollard, which is fine. But the way DBR works is that we need more detail from newcomers than some vague comments. Did “they” (I presume the administration) back off of Coombs improvement plans? Fewer scholarships? Did they renege on paving the coaches’ parking lot? (You’re probably too young to know about the last one.)
Always good to have new community members who are passionate. But if you really bristle at words like "esoteric" and refuse to Google them, you might be in for a frustrating time here. Thanks for the advice, sincerely. I hope my reply was sufficient. Hmmmm, let's get him in the fold first and THEN worry about how long he may stay.I can't speak for Jordan, but most assistants dream of their own program. Someone will be along shortly to wish him luck.
