Duke Baseball Season 2025 - One Run Short of Omaha

Without guessing through all the tiebreakers, Duke is guaranteed no less than the 9 seed in the ACCT. Louisville and Wake are tied for 9th at the present time and play each other next weekend. If everybody in the 6-9 range sweeps and Duke gets swept, Duke is the 9 seed because the Louisville/Wake loser gets swept. The 9 seed plays at 9AM on Tuesday.

Duke trails UNC by 0.5 game for the 4 seed/double bye. Duke can get as high as the 2 seed if everything goes right, but one of FSU/UNC is guaranteed to be ahead because they play each other.

Is it ok to assume that if we win the Ga Tech series, we are guaranteed a double bye?

I believe this is almost true, but not guaranteed. If Duke wins the series both Duke and Georgia Tech would finish 18-12, but Duke would hold the tiebreaker by winning the series. It won’t matter what happens to UNC, FSU, or NC State. Duke would get a top 4 seed.

The only possible hiccup I see is if UVa sweeps Va Tech. If that happens Duke would likely be the 5 seed, unless they sweep the Georgia Tech series.

D1 baseball has Duke as the #2 in Auburn. Their Auburn-Coastal combination is not Omaha-friendly. Baseball America comes out today (and I expect them to move Duke up to a 2 this week.)
