Duke Baseball 2026

Duke pitching has been so good all season, until the last several innings culminating with a 3 run Princeton inning in which they did not get a hit. Walks, errors, and hit batters result in a disastrous inning that will cost them this game.

Wow, swinging on 3-0 in that situation is stupid baseball
At 3-0 you have to look for a particular pitch in a specific location. When I played in junior high we had an automatic take sign on every 3-0 pitch. Not appropriate at higher levels, but it makes some sense. Especially discerning batters can handle passing up a strike in that circumstance for the chance to get a better pitch later. But especially discerning batters are the exception. Ugh

Duke hosts Gardner-Webb today at 4 pm. RHP Jordan Regulski on the mound:

According to this site, Gardner-Webb has an RPI of 34 and Duke's is 165. Our weekend ACC opponent, Notre Dame, is 45

We dropped 3 points I guess because we lost a game to Princeton?

Edit: NCAA site is slightly different, but close: https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/baseball/d1/rpi

When does baseball drop the outmoded RPI?
The RPI is essentially useless at this point of the season. Duke’s RPI will rise substantially as the ACC season begins just by virtue of playing the game, regardless if they win or lose.

Garner Webb is 33 in RPI, so winning this game would help Duke’s RPI at least at this point of the season.
