Duke Baseball 2024, ACC Champs!

Duke baseball has come so far from the Alleva-hired debacle at the turn of the century. Traylor was an upgrade, but never had a winning ACC record.

Pollard has done an amazing job with a program that once mimicked the depths of 90s and 00s Duke football. I really hope we can keep him happy.

Couldn't agree more. With college baseball continuing to grow in popularity, I'd like to think that the Coombs update, and the program generally, will be priorities for the Athletic Department.

Since Pollard has been at Duke, one could make the case he's been consitently the best / most successful coach on campus - given the situation he took over. That was 2012. Of course K won the Natty in 2015- and Cut peaked in 2013 - so those kind of hid Pollard's success right out of the gate. Then of course was the two year wonder Mike Elko.....

So it's an interesting debate, such that it is....but any way you slice it, Pollard has been great.

Just curious. Watching a ton of postseason ball. Most teams’ starters pitch counts are in the 80s to low 100s. I can’t recall a starter for us, this year at least, going more than the 70s or maybe 80s, but that was an anomaly. Hmmm.

Old time college coaches abused their pitchers and had them throw lots and lots of pitches. So this is definitely better than it used to be.

From Duke’s perspective, this is two years where we didn’t have super reliable pitchers and Santucci was coming off injury, so Duke wasn’t built to have a pitcher go a lot. But we still kind of did that with how we used beilinson honestly

LSU messed up. Starter in relief, 50 pitches in two innings. If UNC wins, the y are the 5th ACC team in the supers, all winning at home. I see a trend.

transfer portal season

I was disappointed to see that Chase Krewson had entered the transfer portal yesterday - I really enjoyed watching him play his freshman season - especially his outfield defense!
