Duke Alums on the 2024 PGA and LPGA Tours

Max should take heart seeing Hideki blow his 6-shot lead- it happens.

So happy for Max rebounding after that predictable struggle in round 1. Would love to see him make some noise next week!

A lot of heroes and not-so-braves on the last day of the FedEx St. Jude. Congrats to Max! What a recovery! I had grave misgivings after his collapse in Greensboro.

The ups and downs of golf. Max has worst round (75) of the entire field on Thursday and then ties for best round (63) on Sunday. His FedEx ranking started at 47 and ended at 47.

Congrats to Max! It would be really neat for him to contend next week. And good on Hideki. His experience allowed him to stop (and reverse) that horrible slide that got to Max.

So just doing some back-of-the-envelope calculations, Max probably needs to finish no worse than 7th this week to qualify for next week.

He is currently at 244 points behind 30th and the 30th place person this week gets 112 points. Finishing 7th will get you 360 points.

Using the median point value of 142 points for 25th, would require the 400 points of 6th place to feel safer.

Obviously all of this totally depends upon who finishes where.

Just win, baby!!

Sigh, Max off to a worse start than last week- trying to make a 6-footer to avoid his second double bogey in the first three holes…which he does and is only +3

Max with another double bogey, at +6 and on his way to another DFL finish. Of course, he's in the Top 50 no matter, so his year has been a whopping success.

Max now 2 shots behind the rest of the field. There will be no weekend miracle like last week, the mountain is too steep.

He had a fantastic rookie season and is well set for next year. He won't be ROY (Nick Dunlap maybe?), but absolutely nothing to be ashamed about. Congrats Max, enjoy your time off this fall.

In the last major of the year, the Women's British Open, after two rounds, Leona McGuire is tied for 30th at +1 and Celine Boutier is tied for 36th at +1.

The leader is Nelly Korda, who has overcome her problems in majors and is at -8, three shots ahead of USA's Lilia Vu and England's Charley Hull. Hull came out smoking on Thursday, with a -5 and the first round lead, but had to deal with the elements Friday and was at even par for the round.
