Did you see that?!?!

I heard Chuck Klosterman reference this essay on Bill Simmons's podcast, I really enjoyed it and imagine most hoops fans will as well.

The Heresy of Zone Defense by Dave Hickey
I have stated it many times: zones are defeatist. This is a fun essay. Also if I ever saw anyone start out in a zone, I knew I was going to have a very fun first half. Maybe game, depending on if they were gluttons for punishment. But at least a fun first half.

I’m watching the press conference on CNN where the spokesperson says authorities did not have the suspect’s name from any of the tips received, and I just don’t understand how that could be with the saturation of photographs out there over the last several days. Nobody recognized him??

"Good friends help you bury a body... Great friends bring their own shovel and don't ask questions".

People did. People also knew the whereabouts of Eric Rudolph.
I get that but there has to have been a significantly greater number of people than in Rudolph’s case who recognized him given his social media presence and other associations outside any friends, relatives, or sympathizers trying to protect him, or themselves.

The sympathy this guy generated cannot be understated. I doubt I’ve ever seen a phenomenon like that in this country for an alleged murderer.

Yeah. He is like a social media god-like figure. The hatred for the health insurance business really came out.

I’m sure you both are right about the level of sympathy. For me, from a pure numbers perspective, it’s just hard to fathom that as the sole answer. I guess my original question shouldn’t have been whether there was no one who recognized him but why there was not a single person who recognized him who was willing to say so, especially for $60k?

Just to throw out a data point, that's less than I will pay UHC in premiums this year in company group insurance (we pay 100%) for six adults and four children after the annual plan went up 18% last month.

I don’t know there is a type for people that do something like this thinking they’re committing vigilante justice, but this guy certainly isn’t it for me.
