Conference Realignment

I 100% believe that we won't have the cash to keep up. Duke's going to make up for it by offering television exposure and opportunities for outside NIL deals, which is Rachel Baker's entire job. By all accounts we are already a middle of the pack NIL school in terms of how much the school pays.

I sometimes think that the so-called Premier League is going to be the group of schools that don't want any academic related constraints such as practice time, scholarship, coaching or season length limits, and I don't see most of the Big10 going for that. I don't know how the networks handle that.

Ten or fifteen years ago, I'd have agreed with you.

But now, Rutgers and Maryland are flying nonrevenue athletes to the East Bay in the middle of the week in the middle of the semester.

They can also Zoom into class during the flight. The world is smaller than it used to be.

Wonder if clemson/fsu taking a looksie if they can create similar LLCs...license their name to that LLC, then claim the LLC is not under the purview of the GoR 🤔

I assume LLC stands for a Little Light Cheating?

And who's in charge of this "Champions Blue LLC"? Gotta be someone Kentucky can lock down. Just imagine what happens if he or she goes rogue...

There was an article in the Athletic today (sorry, no link) that implied that the Big Ten's best chance to win a national championship in basketball again is to add Duke to the conference.

I mean, they're not wrong...

It would be a cold splash of water in the face to those league members that think they are better or more deserving than the rest of the ACC.
And I would be petty enough to deliciously enjoy that particular outcome.

However, that means #$%^&* UMd is back on the schedule.

Frankly I think one of Duke's conditions for joining the Big 10 should be no regular season games with Maryland.

Or insist that Maryland get kicked out, to return to the ACC.
I think I can live with a decimated ACC if we never have to deal with SEC-Carolina or B1G-Maryland again. The first five years of no Carolina would be weird but you can get used to just about anything.

That lady in Germany had a golf pencil in her head for half a century and she turned out OK. This would be much easier.
