Buh bye! Mack Brown out at UNC, Bill Belichick in

Well, I ain't no Tar Heel, but I am a North Carolina tax payer, and I throw up in my mouth a little at the notion that I'm helping to foot the bill for this little experiment in bringing the oligarchy to state college football. Just gross. Even grosser if it actually works.
Man, why'd you have to say that? It was somewhat amusing and honestly interesting to think that somehow Belichick is a true believer that he could really implement some system that could be effective in the modern CFB landscape. I mean not saying it really would be effective, but that he truly believes it.
Most likely its a grift. Its one last payday for Belichick and his cronies to cash in on his name on a group of people who were easy to trick. Given his acquaintances, its really hard to see it any other way.

I bet Belicheck thinks there will be a Pied-Piper effect in drawing players to UNC. Kind of like Deion at CU I

And, of course, he may have some money to play with.

There probably will be some of that, but people forget with Prime, he had already parleyed his celebrity to gain attention as a coach at Jackson St, where he was successful (and gained additional fame). Deion is also like 20+ years younger than Belichick and probably had a better idea on how to relate to 20 year old athletes being a dad to 2 himself.

I will be surprised, not dumbfounded, but surprised if this works out well.
Next year a large part of the unc team will be freshmen, basically high school players. Some will be very talented but very inexperienced.

About 25 years ago USC hired Paul Hackett who had done wonders with Montana at KC. The college players found his offense too complicated. A veteran like Montana handled it fine.

On the other hand, I think Belichick is determined to make this successful.

I really look forward to watching this train wreck in Chapel Hill. Other than the cheating aspect and both sides clearly being desperate, it's tough to imagine a worse match than Belichick and Carolina. May they both get what they deserve.

ESPN petty much has them in the playoffs in two years already.......

Rob Ninkovich made this very point about Belichick and UNC this morning on Get Up. He added that while there is obvious marketing cache to the "NFL pipeline and preparation" model, in reality only a small subset of players in any given year will have true NFL potential. So where does that leave the rest of the roster?

in an interview about the pipeline, BB said that this included success principles and connections for players in business who would not be in the NFL - as well as the pipeline for NFL potential players. FWIW...he did touch on that.

But he doesn’t need an entire roster of players with actual NFL potential if he can fill out the rest of the roster with players that *think* they have NFL potential. By the time they realize the difference, Bill will be gone and it will be Junior’s problem.

Well, Bill will have a big advantage when recruiting high school and portal players. The players don't have to attend class. Just keep their minds on football in waking hours and when they sleep, dream about football.
