Eh, Mack Brown just needs a little more time. Maybe get some more experience at this job.
Mack Brown says "the ball is on your field, Bubba".

North Carolina coach Mack Brown said Monday that he intends to return to the Tar Heels next season, although he has not yet had any discussions about his future with athletic director Bubba Cunningham.

Will Bubba rain on his parade? My gut says that if Carolina loses to State, Mr Cunningham will respond to Mack's good intentions with a "yer fired".

Mack, who still has $$$$ on his contract (I don't know or remember the details), has to say he's returning or risk getting knee-capped by his agent.

I believe he makes $4.2 mil per season. I read that he has a $2.8 mil buyout. In the grand scheme of things, these are relatively cheap expenses if Carolina wants to get rid of him.

If we can get rid of our beloved but reluctant to leave Cut, the heels will find a way to amicably ($$$) get the “Mack is Back” to hit the road. He is history.
Gotta love how we know that there is a lot of jealousy 8 miles down the road after they watched Midnight Mike hit the road and Manny walk in and not skip a beat.

I am surprised. Like I expected this to likely be his last season, but I expected the AD to let Mack control the announcement. I guess they may have asked and when he said no, they told him
Thats the 1st big opening of the upcoming season.
Here come the Nick Saban rumors🤣

Is it really that big of an opening, though? For all their bluster, when has UNC truly been a destination football program, along the lines of the true blue bloods of the sport?

Honestly, in the NIL and transfer era a school like UNC could rise to the top of a suspect ACC in a hot minute. I wouldn't be surprised if they find a way to score a big big name for this job. Or at least someone who wants to create a big name for themselves.

Its a power 4 job in a talent rich state with a recognizable brand. I'm not saying its Alabama tier, but I would have said UNC was a more attractive job in football than say IU.

If by “big opening” you mean one where the fan base will have wildly unrealistic expectations about who they can hire, yep, 100%.

I wonder whose name they will float after Saban laughs out loud. I’m hoping they ask him when he has a mouthful of coffee.
