2027 Men's Basketball Recruiting

Folks probably know this but CWell has another son who has been playing college ball for several years. Caleb Stone-Carrawell has been at Charlotte, Austin Peay (playing for Nate James) and Utah Valley. This year, his 6th year (thanks Covid and redshirting), he is playing at Loyola Marymount. He is a 6-7 wing who averaged 11.7ppg and 3.4rpg last year at Utah Valley: https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/caleb-stone-carrawell-1.html

In terms of Zeke Battier, the 6-6 SF played last year at Ransom Everglades in Florida (Shane works in the front office of the Miami Heat). As a soph he averaged 24.5ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.5 spg, and 1.0 bpg and made the All-Miami Dade 3rd team (in the 2A-4A size schools, the Boozers made first team in the 5A-7A sized schools). He takes a big step up in quality this season as he will be playing for Charlotte’s Providence Day School, which is one of the best programs in the State.

Here is Zeke --

It takes a lot lot lot to make it to Duke, even as the son of a legendary player. I mean, Zeke could end up as one of the 5 best players in the state of North Carolina and that would likely mean he would be little more than a walk-on at Duke.
Dude has way too much hair to be a Battier!!

With 4 players hailing from North Carolina in the top 30 of the 247 Sports Composite Rankings for the 2027 class, it seems likely that we will see at least a couple of these players making multiple unofficial visits over the next two years. The most recent unofficial visitor from this group was CJ Rosser (6'9", 195, PF at Northern Nash in Rocky Mount), who is the #2 or #3 ranked prospect in the class overall (and #1 in the state). CJ was in town for the Stanford game.

Before that, Jordan Page (6'4", 170, SG at Broughton), who is ranked somewhere in the #10-#15 range nationally (and #2 or #3 in NC), visited for the North Carolina game.

One other note, this is not exactly new news, but I didn't see it in the thread: King Gibson (6/4", 185, CG, previously at Burlington), also in the #10-#15 range in the class of 2027 and #2 or #3 in the state, transferred to Montverde this season.

for SMU

Ryan Hampton won't be alone. On3 also reports that Marcus Spears Jr, the #8 prospect in the Class of 2027, will make an unofficial visit to SMU this weekend that coincides with the Clemson game.

The article indicates that his parents (Marcus Spears Sr and the former Aiysha Smith) played football and basketball at LSU before embarking on careers in the NFL and WNBA, while his older sister Cari will play volleyball at Texas this fall. He also has offers from LSU and Texas, as well as Stanford and Oklahoma State.

Yo, bra... somebody should nip this in the bud before it's ratings sag.

If Kon could possibly stick around a few extra years, we could really have a nice pair of Knueppels.

You really pierced that one.

Could possibly help hang a ring or two.

The key to maximizing a Knueppel’s output is to keep the gym as cold as possible

You mean a little Knuep in the air?

You Kon say that

A couple of Kager Knueppel (6-8 forward, Class of 2027) videos from this weekend.

First, DukeLights extracted the video from this day-old Instagram post from SLAM Magazine with the caption "Jon Scheyer pulled up to EYBL Session 2 to watch Kon Knueppel’s younger brother Kager this morning". (I'm not complaining. It's a lot easier to watch embedded videos on YouTube than Instagram.)

Second, SLAM has a short segment of Kager playing in front of John Calipari at the EYBL event, alongside other short segments with fellow 2027 recruits Ryan Hampton and Beckham Black, as well as 2026 recruit Tyran Stokes. (Instagram has isolated the Knueppel portion, if you'd prefer.)
