2026 Men's Basketball Recruiting

Just a sign of the times in the ever-changing world we call recruiting ! Duke is surely not the only school that does it.

Impressive to me that Tyler... who was just hired in May and has not yet spent a season as an assistant coach... is already on in-home recruiting visits. Scheyer must have a good relationship and trust with Tyler already. Good to see.

Not only are Jon’s socks slightly mismatched, but he’s wearing a left sock on his right foot. Yes I am maybe a little too particular about my own sock fit…
You, I believe, are joking, but I have several pairs of running socks that are labeled l and r. First time I matched up more than 1 pair from the dryer and noticed this I was amazed. But I can tell the difference. It’s a new world

I know a friend of his from HS (Gonzaga College HS on Capitol Hill). In HS he was already a positive, positive leader and model for the other students. Born to be a recruiter.

Tommy Amaker recruiting news. On3/Rivals is reporting that Jason Singleton has committed to Harvard.

The 6-foot-4 high three-star point guard out of Columbus Academy (OH) chose the Crimson over high major offers from Ohio State, Xavier, DePaul, Creighton, and Nebraska.

“Seth Towns was one of the main reasons I trusted the coaching staff. He’s from my hometown of Columbus, OH. He is one of the biggest basketball names to come out of the city. Like me, he had the chance to play at many powerhouse programs, but recognized all the great things Harvard had to offer and chose to go against the grain. Coach Amaker was another major factor. He personally called me, laid out his vision for my role in the program, and expressed the trust he had in me. At the same time, he was honest about the areas I needed to improve. It was clear he had studied my game closely and truly understood what I could contribute.”

Singleton is currently ranked 117th by On3/Rivals and 104th by 247 Sports.

Let's hope this commitment sticks. In the last recruiting cycle, RSCI top 50 prospect Elzie Harrington committed to Harvard in June 2024, then flipped to USC in December 2024, then flipped again to San Diego State in April 2025.

I’m mostly joking about my own particularities. If I have L/R socks, I’m wearing them L and R. But only cause I’m… particular.

Though I would imagine that if Jon knew his socks would be in a photo, he would have taken the extra 15 seconds to match them and put on the “correct” foot. :)

Not much here, JJ Jackson's attempts to make 30 minutes of content from a few social media postings is somewhat admirable. But, Brandon Jenkins is the guest so at least there's some outside perspective on Class of 26 and 27 recruiting. These guys never seem to mention Maximo Adams or Sayon Keita

It says so much about me that my first 2 thoughts were Lactated Ringers and Lenoir Rhyne before I got to Left Right.

I don't have L-R socks, but I do mark each pair of new athletic socks uniquely so they stay together throughout their lifetime.*

*Exception - If one sock of a pair is damaged then I put the undamaged sock aside until/unless it can be paired with another survivor sock.

Note: This might seem a bit OCD, but I take an OCD test each year the day after my birthday to ensure I'm not that.

having a matching sock suddenly pop up for an orphan sock is a moment for quiet celebration in my book.

What was the outcome of the last test? 😀

I have left right golf socks and at some point I found that I had a left without its right mate. Out of frustration I threw it into the trash. Today I found it's made in the car hiding in a corner. I am bummed

I haven't heard of Rachel Baker going on in-home recruiting visits. Maybe it's a thing but if so I wasn't aware of it. Or maybe Jon brought out the big guns here, indicating he really wants this young man.
Yes, he is all in on Rippey, and it seems that Kentucky is likely the biggest competitor for his services.

I have never been less interested in basketball recruiting (not that I’m uninterested) since following Duke and it feels like it will only get worse

I think that, on a national level, there's probably a greater disconnect between college basketball recruiting insiders and college basketball fans because of what's happening financially to delay commitments this cycle. And while it's affecting Duke (and pretty much every team except Florida State and Missouri for some reason), our fans already know that Coach Scheyer is highly likely to continue prioritizing high schoolers over transfers to build his next roster.

Our frustration is mostly in the waiting. Fans of other schools are also frustrated about the complete uncertainty.

As of 30 minutes ago, when Gage Mayfield committed to Oklahoma, while Gavin Placide (along with his twin brother Gallagher Placide) committed to Wake Forest, 25 of ESPN's top 100 have decided upon a school. I'm tracking all of that on DBR here.
