2026 Men's Basketball Recruiting

Interesting story as to why a recruit ranked #68 chose VCU over P5 offers: https://www.cbssports.com/college-b...from-every-power-conference-to-commit-to-vcu/

The 2026 recruit and VCU commit in that CBS Sports article is named Sammy Jackson. I wonder if his middle initial is L.

"VCU is a school where I know they're all-in on me. There are a lot of schools out there … SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC … you go in thinking, 'Are they going to bring in a 25-year-old senior (from the transfer portal) or something like that?' But I know (at VCU), even if I'm not getting all of the minutes my freshmen year, I know they're all-in on me. That was the biggest thing for me. The program and the whole staff is all-in on my development. They want me to come in and make an impact immediately."

Here are some more things that Sammy Jackson may or may not have said about various power conference schools.

About Duke: "The idea was to bring together a group of remarkable people to see if they could become something more."

About Florida: "This party's over."

About Indiana: "These are mediocre times... People are starting to lose hope."

About UNC: "Yes, they deserved to die, and I hope they burn in hell!"

247 is reporting that Duke has offered Maximo Adam's, a 6'7" 205 lb SF out of California. He seems to have blow away the recruiting buzz at Peach Jam. 247 as of now ranks him at #93

DukeBasketballReport posted that news at 9:00 this morning.
On the front page.

Well, whatever, love the first name and hope to learn more about this fast rising prospect.

I'd add this for perhaps Wake Forest, Syracuse or Pitt:

"You’ve seen how bad things can get and how quick they can get that way. Well, they can get a whole lot worse. But, We’re Not Going To Fight ANYMORE. We’re going to pull together and we’re gonna find a way to get out of here. First, we’re gonna [eaten by shark].”

Maximo Adams was a beast at Peach Jam, 18.8ppg and 10.2rpg while shooting 40% from 3 and hitting almost 60% od his 2s. He had a 2-1 ATO ratio too.

The offers have been flowing in for him since Peach Jam ended: Houston, Texas, AZ State (see below for the reason why), SMU, Kentucky, Michigan St, UNC, Purdue, Maryland.

His older brother Marcus Adams Jr. was the No. 51 ranked player in the class of 2023. He originally enrolled at Kansas before leaving, briefly committing to Gonzaga and then going to BYU. Transferred to Cal-State Northridge for his sophomore season where he was second team All-Big West and he's now enrolled at Arizona State after another transfer.

5 schools in 2 years…I know it’s a new age, but dang. Not a great fact pattern for those chasing Maximo.

Yes, I’m aware. Not sure what your point is and I don’t want to assume and look foolish.

My point and opinion is that it’s not a good fact pattern. Do you think it’s a good one?

Can you post a more fully formed opinion or statement other than they are biologically related?

I mean Maximo is not his brother. I guess that's the point. Who knows what Maximo will do.

I try not to assign attributes of one family member to another without some kind of evidence aside from blood relation.

Maximo Adams posts the Duke offer.

Adams is a 6-8 small forward attending Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles. Here's an updated look at his recruiting rankings:

247: #40
247 Composite: #99
ESPN: #44
On3/Rivals: #60
On3 Industry: #46

Here are some Peach Jam highlights.

Probably a wise policy. I've written at length about Marcus Adams Jr in previous transfer portal threads, and if I had to guess, I'd say that he made a mistake in the first place by reclassifying to come to Kansas a year early. That decision isn't for everyone. I hope for his sake that Arizona State works out for him.
