2025 NBA Draft

You still have to claim US citizenship for your child. We already know that Proctor was not a citizenship when he was a freshman as he needed a visa before he could enroll.
That is true that he would have had to apply, and other sources suggest he did indeed require a Visa. Thanks for correcting me.

Sorry if already posted, but is Coward the only prospect who put his name in the transfer portal and committed to a school, and then ended up staying in the draft?! I thought there were like 4 at least "testing the Waters."

If so, wow...we got a bit unlucky there for sure. It's not like that's a common thing anymore so many withdrawals now with large payments in college. But at least got Dame.

Not only unlucky with Coward, but multiple guys with better draft projections than Proctor, chose to come back to college. Bummer. (Though I don’t blame Rese or Coward, obviously)

I looked at the latest ESPN top-100 big board. It has the schools, ages of all the guys. I'm pretty sure Tyrese is the lowest ranked guy on the board who still has eligibility left (he's definitely the youngest). In other words, it's an outlier he didn't return to Duke and collect a big NIL check.

I agree that he is an outlier, but #43 Tyrese Proctor is not the lowest ranked guy on ESPN's Top 100 Big Board who has eligibility left. Among the early entrants from college who stayed in the draft, #59 RJ Luis of St. John's and unranked Omar Rowe of Division II Morehouse also could have returned to school.

There are also the following early entrants from international teams or otherwise not from college. They still have until June 15 to withdraw -- not really an eligibility issue, but they are young enough to wait for a future NBA Draft.

44. Michael Ružić
51. Neoklis Avdalas
54. Mouhamed Faye
56. Dink Pate
64. Ben Henshall
67. Malique Lewis
69. Izan Almansa
78. Saliou Niang
86. Mohamed Diawara
97. Eli John Ndiaye

Plus another 11 who are unranked.

Yeah I ignored the international guys. And I missed Big East POY Luis. It is an even bigger surprise he's not returning to school. He's probably trading a $3M payday for a $600k two-way contract. Strange decision.

No Ceilings NBA has updated their Big Board of 60 players -- just a hierarchy, no team affiliation.

1. Cooper Flagg (no change)
5. Kon Knueppel (no change)
8. Khaman Maluach (no change)
15. Cedric Coward (up from #31)
39. Tyrese Proctor (up from #45)
46. Sion James (up from #58)

Five more former ACC players made the cut, each moving up from the previous Big Board.

32. Maxime Raynaud (up from #34)
35. Drake Powell (up from #42)
49. Hunter Sallis (up from #56)
51. Jamir Watkins (was unranked)
55. Viktor Lakhin (was unranked)

What was the statistical likelihood of this result? My Stats 110B is a bit rusty - assuming the math isn't that hard? It had to be pretty low.
Wow. I haven’t heard the phrase “Stats 110B” in almost 30 years. Kinda like the other day when I was thinking about my Duke email address (which was my first) and, because I didn’t know what an email client was, I used PINE for all 4 years for my “acpub.duke.edu” address. Just remembering “acpub” took me back.

Last week, Nico Harrison posted that Dereck Lively has grown to 7’3” and now has a wingspan of 7’9” (wow). I see no reason why Maluach can’t continue growing and reach these numbers, too, given how young he is.

(I tried using the Advanced Search function a few times and didn’t find this note, but I admit that I haven’t read this whole thread and may have missed it)

I still fondly recall my first email address, wecoyote@acpub.duke.edu. And to display my vast maturity as a college student, think the Road Runner for why that name

I think that through class of 97 you had to go specifically request an e-mail address (trekking over to a building near engineering) and you could choose what it was. Though I think sometime during 93-94 they started assigning them. Starting with class of 98 it was initials and a number.

There was someone with the same name as me a year or two ahead of me. So we would occasionally get each other's e-mails. I recall one of their non-Duke friends sending me a pretty graphic e-mail about the details of a sexual experience. I replied "congratulations and thank you for sharing but this was intended for your friend."

When I was at Duke, we got to pick our pony for sending messages.

Yesterday, John Fanta his latest NBA Mock Draft, which includes Cedric Coward in the top 10. I know Cooper, Kon and Man Man have obviously long been talked about being top 10 picks but it's pretty amazing to see this visual and realize we could have three Duke players and an honorary Dukie selected in the top 10 of the draft!

It's a really good story if Cedric Coward can go from Division III basketball to a top 10 draft pick, but unless Houston trades the pick or a bunch of their existing wings, they will not use him. They're almost as bad a landing spot for a ready and developed rookie as Oklahoma City, who has the #15 pick.

I know the mantra is usually "best player available" and there is some debate between Bailey and Edgecombe at 3, but this mock would mean Philly is putting a lot of resources into a backcourt core that is 6'4" (Edgecombe), 6'2" (Jared McCain), and 6'2" (Maxey). That's not ideal.

Thanks for reminding me to keep an eye on McCain next season. I think he has superstar potential if his injury recovers fully.
