2025 Men's Basketball Recruiting

I see you're still on Foster island since preseason. You got it right on Kon island but not Foster island. Don't give up there's always next season, ha ha. I guess you could say I'm on Isaiah island. I think if he gets playing time he will be a really good player for Duke. If not this season, maybe next season. He gave me a glimpse of what he could do last night. He's done everything the coaches have asked. He's gotten better on defense and will get better. I'm just glad he got minutes against Auburn. I'll bet on Isaiah over Ament next season.

GoDuke!
Personally, I’m on Duke Island. 😎

We are gonna need Foster in a big way between now and April. Every year there's a guy called on to step up when other stuff isnt working.

Keep cheering him on!
Exactly. One of the announcers last night noted that the loudest cheer from the bench was when Foster made his first basket. Also Brendan Marks on the DBR pod said he thought a big key for Duke to win out is to get Foster playing well again as our third guard. As long as Jon continues to believe in him, all fans should be cheering hard for him.

yeah, I seen some people get on Foster's case at the Devils Den, and it makes no sense. Everyone knows he's struggling, but his teammates are behind him and there is still time for things to click and his improvement would be a wonderful thing entering postseason.

I know the plan was to make Foster our PG but ballhandling against pressure seems to be his worst skill. I wonder if it's possible, for the remainder of the season at least, to make him work more off the ball and get back to hitting shots.

Back in my younger days... 95 to be specific.. I said a lot of harsh things about Jeff Capel as a player on that squad.
Luckily it was in the early days of the internet and there is no proof I lost my cool.

As I have now learned to breathe and take things in stride.. I lacked perspective and maturity back then.
I've often thought if I saw Jeff in a bar I'd buy him a beer and apologize just on principle, for my poor reaction and behavior.

Not going to do that again to young Mr. Foster. It is what it is. Its ok to talk about it. Its ok to joke about it, within reason.
But, I will not talk down to him, I will not make personal attacks and I generally hope he pulls out of his funk and becomes a more regular contributor. I'm rooting for him.

Well said. But goodness I hated when he pulled up his dribble, jumped in the air, and then looked for someone to pass to!

Are we recruiting Caleb for next year's team?
Yes, starting April 8th.

Getting back to the class of 2025 - Is Cayden Boozer likely to start?

#18 in RSCI. If neither Proctor or Foster is back, then I assume he starts but we'd also bring in a portal guard.

Does anyone who has seen him play have a strong opinion about fit and how big a role we should expect next year?

I think it will be the great mystery of the offseason. Who does Jon want as his PG?

Cayden's pluses. He fits the mold of a big guard. He has a mature, pass-first game. He and his brother have won a LOT playing together.

But a #18 ranking is borderline for a freshman Duke starter. That's about where both Foster and Stewart were coming in last year.

The last time I watched him play I thought he looked much improved. Not sure how good he is on defense…because high school, but he has nice size and his offense seemed solid. I expect him to be no worse than a 15-20 minute guy with the potential for more. I’m pretty high on him especially given his on-court connection with his brother who will be our #1 option.

Based on what? Last year's retention?
I don't think Duke lost anyone last season that they weren't comfortable letting go, so I'm not sure how much re-recruiting was actually done.

Would Duke have liked some players to stick around? I think so, but I'm not sure how much effort they put into retention.
