2025 Men's Basketball Recruiting

Who's next ?
Duke currently have offers out to (and have not been eliminated by):

Nate Ament, Dwayne Aristode, Brayden Burries, Shelton Henderson, Nik Khamenia, Acaden Lewis, and Koa Peat.

Aristode received a Crystal Ball to Arizona recently and appears on the outs. I imagine Koa Peat is not going to want to com-peat with Cameron Boozer, so I doubt he's an option anymore. That leaves Ament, Burries, Henderson, Khamenia, and Lewis. Lewis may have been mutually exclusive with Cayden Boozer. On the other hand, he did visit Duke for CTC (with Ament and Henderson).

Henderson and Khamenia both recently released short lists/final 3 lists with Duke. Those are the two to watch right now. Ament has visited Duke about a half-dozen times and was also at CTC. Those three plus Lewis (see note above) seem to be the primary targets right now.

If everyone we expect to stay stays next year, I did say we're done in terms of high-impact freshmen recruits. Just need a few more 4 stars or impact transfers to get our final roster over 10 players.

So you think Nate Ament, Sheldon Henderson, Acaden Lewis were all at CTC just in case the Boozers picked Miami? I doubt that.

I think we are still pursuing all these guys plus potentially Dwayne Aristode as an alternative to Henderson. And per DBA, maybe still Khamenia and Burries.

I do think Koa Peat is probably out now that Cam Boozer has committed.

I'm concerned with Carlos Boozer on the defensive end next year. Particularly at 44 or so years old.

247 has Acaden as 100% to UK. Rupp Rafters seems to think they are getting Lewis and Caleb Wilson (keep him away from Uncheats).
If the Cheats don't land Caleb Wilson, it will be tough for them to put together a top20 recruiting class. They are still after #16 Braylon Mullins, but so is UConn - and Indiana really wants to keep him in state.

If they lose Ian Jackson and Drake Powell as projected first round draft picks, along with RJ Davis and Jaelyn Withers, they could be facing a pretty big rebuild in the portal.

Lewis seems like a talented or more natural point guard than Cayden Boozer and a better shooter right now.

On the other hand, Duke might return one of Proctor or Foster for next year. Either would be preferable to me over a freshman PG unless that PG is on the level of Tyus Jones or Kyrie Irving as a freshman in college. Those players are rare. As it happens, the coaching staff seems to be targeting Brandon McCoy in the Class of 2026 who might be on that level as a PG prospect. Just based on that, it wouldn't be such a big loss if they do land McCoy in '26.

2025-26: Proctor/Foster with Cayden Boozer as backup
2026-27: McCoy with Boozer as backup/6th man/starting SG?

Duke Basketball never stops, am I right? Might as well get this thing kicked off now that the new school year is underway.

Two of the most promising high school freshmen this season are none other than the Boozer boys, Cameron and Cayden. Their father played at Duke. Apparently, he even won a National Championship on the 2001 team. Went by the name Carlos or C-Booz.

Anyway, the Boozer twins impressed at the CP3 Rising Stars competition over the weekend. Cameron is a 6'8" forward noted for his athleticism and impressive shooting for his size. Cayden is a few inches shorter and is a forward but with a more impressive head of hair if I do say so myself.

Cameron left quite an impression at the Rising Stars event. Andrew Slater noted that he was particularly exceptional. Might want to keep tabs on the two.

Jon has talked about the need to get older and tougher. Do you think he intends to start a bunch of teenagers?
The Boozer boys will be 17 when they finish high school (DOB July 18, 2007).

Carlos Boozer was also on the young side when he came to Duke. Didn't turn 18 until November 20 of his first season.

Gminski, Flagg, and the Boozers -- young guns.

Boozer looked like he was 30 as a 17 yo. We'll see about his sons.

26. Shelton Henderson (6-6 SF): Duke offer, AND 3 finalists are Duke, Louisville, and Texas

Also, Houston was left out after spending a lot of time and effort with Henderson.

I'm surprised Houston wasn't in the top 3.

Kelvin Sampson bounced back quickly, getting a commitment today from local recruit Bryce Jackson, a 6-5 small forward from the greater Houston area. He's #206 in the On3 industry rankings.

Among recruits in the RSCI top 50, Houston has already received a commitment from #10 Isiah Harwell (6-5 SG), and is still in the mix for #5 Koa Peat (6-8 PF), #13 Chris Cenac (6-10 PF), #21 Kingston Flemings (6-3 PG), and #42 John Clark (6-9 PF). That's 3 power forwards, but the article linked above mentions Cenac and Clark as possibilities at the 5 position.

Who's next ?

Duke currently have offers out to (and have not been eliminated by):

Nate Ament, Dwayne Aristode, Brayden Burries, Shelton Henderson, Nik Khamenia, Acaden Lewis, and Koa Peat.

Caleb Wilson too. He appears to have prioritized other places right now, but as far as I know, has not eliminated Duke from contention.

The ZagsBlog staff has updated their intel page for the top prospects after the Boozers' commitment to Duke on Friday.

Nate Ament (6-9 SF)

No list of finalists yet. He's officially visited Texas and Duke (Countdown to Craziness last weekend) and is scheduled to be visiting Louisville this weekend, but he was also invited to the USA Basketball minicamp this weekend in Colorado Springs. So, where is he?

In DBR Podcast #651 (linked and embedded below for the Acaden Lewis entry), Ament's father told @JasonEvans that "they're probably not that close yet", with a few visits left. ZagsBlog, among others, has speculated that Ament will wait until the spring to make his announcement. He plans to visit Tennessee next weekend and Kansas State in February.

Dwayne Aristode (6-7 SF)

His finalists are Arizona, Duke, Michigan State, USC, and the NBL Next Stars program in Australia. In the past month or so, he took official visits to Duke, Michigan State, and USC, and unofficially visited Arizona back in January. No decision date yet, but he told ZagsBlog he's probably done with the visits.

Brayden Burries (6-4 CG)

Wide open, no finalists. Only one official visit to Alabama in September (joined by #1 recruit AJ Dybantsa and 2026 prospect Caleb Holt, and they saw the football game against Georgia).

Shelton Henderson (6-6 SF)

He's choosing between Duke, Louisville, and Texas with no official visits so far. He unofficially visited Duke last weekend for CTC, along with Ament, and this post from HS Top Recruits has something to say about that meeting.

I haven't seen this package deal independently reported anywhere else, and an account called Louisville Updates replied "Don't believe everything you read".

Nikolas Khamenia (6-8 SF)

He narrowed his list to 5 schools back in August -- Arizona, Duke, Gonzaga, UCLA, and UNC -- and has taken official visits to all five, UCLA most recently. He said in August that he would decide in mid-October, which is next week, but nothing's been confirmed or updated since.

Acaden Lewis (6-3 PG)

He's down to Connecticut, Duke, and Kentucky. (A fourth option of UNC was reportedly cut, not long after combo guard Derek Dixon committed to the Heels.) He visited Connecticut last month, came to Durham for CTC, and celebrated his birthday at Kentucky yesterday, where he attended Big Blue Madness and was serenaded by the team.

In DBR Podcast #651, at around the 52-minute mark, @JasonEvans talked about meeting the fathers of Nate Ament and Acaden Lewis last weekend, and shared a piece of information that may have been reported elsewhere, but I had not previously come across it:

"I get the impression -- I'm not sure if they've released it publicly -- but I believe Acaden will be deciding in about the next month, early November. You know, I don't want to break any news, if that's not official or anything, but his dad did say we they're probably going to decide, and it should be early November."

ZagsBlog doesn't put forth a decision timeline, so maybe that is news.

Koa Peat (6-8 PF)

He has 10 finalists: Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Duke, Houston, Kentucky, Michigan, Texas, UCLA, and UNC. He was originally scheduled to visit Duke next weekend, but decided to postpone that trip a few weeks ago, and has not rescheduled.

Caleb Wilson (6-9 PF)

A dozen finalists -- Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Duke, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, UCF, UNC, and USC -- are in the mix. Much was made of his decision last week to cancel his Alabama visit to see UNC a second time. Another factor to possibly consider: he and Lewis have commented on social media some interest in playing together, which could mean either Duke and Kentucky. Finally, Wilson (and Peat) play the same position as Cameron Boozer.
