2025 Men's Basketball Recruiting

Sorry for the mistake -- I was relying on the caption that accompanied the post in the other thread on Friday.
No worries! I think that is Rachel behind them.

If anyone is interested in learning a bit more about Coach Emanuel Dildy, far right, here's a link to his bio. Impressive!

11. Jasper Johnson (6-4 SG): 5 finalists are Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisville, and UNC

34. Eric Reibe (7-0 C): 11 finalists are Connecticut, Creighton, Harvard, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio State, Oregon, Stanford, UNC, and West Virginia

A little while back I said that the next few weeks would be a critical time for Hubert Davis, when many of his biggest recruiting targets are making official visits to Chapel Hill. This month started on a pair of not-so-good notes for him.

Earlier this week, Eric Reibe cancelled his official visits to UNC and Kentucky. It's a smaller loss for the Wildcats, who already have a commitment from fellow 2025 center Malachi Moreno, but this is potentially devastating for the Heels for 2 reasons.

First, it continues to look like UNC is allergic to centers, or centers are allergic to UNC. Second, Reibe's visit was scheduled for the same days that #1 recruit AJ Dybantsa is planning to be in Heeltown. The cancellation may or may not hurt Coach Davis' pursuit of Dybantsa, but you have to think that it doesn't help.

The other bit of news is that Jasper Johnson committed to Kentucky this afternoon, resolving what was considered to a tight three-team race with Alabama and UNC.

Fittingly, anonymous insider Trilly Donovan posted this video clip shortly after Johnson's decision. (Note the UNC guy on the ground at the end.)

It is very quiet on the Boozer front.

Anything? Anyone?
They are planning to take their visits. They were at Florida this past weekend (watched the Gators stomp Samford 45-7) and will be at Miami next weekend. I would imagine they will make a decision fairly soon after that.

The twins (and mom) have played things very close to the vest. No one really has a good sense of what is going to happen. I know people at Duke feel very good about how things went when the brothers and mom were here a week ago but anyone who tells you they are confident about anything regarding this decision is lying.

I read that Jon and staff are doing an in-home visit in Florida next week, I guess right before their weekend at Miami.
Yeah, both Todd Golden and Jim Lara did in-home visits in the days right after the Duke visit.

I heard they both asked to do their in-homes right after Duke so they could make sure the twins did not commit to Duke without doing one last official visit to Gainesville and Coral Gables.

Earlier in the summer, after reading a note from Jason about the Boozer twins’ relationship with their mom (Carlos and CeCe divorced; the kids continued to live with CeCe), I wondered if there were any public comments from either her or Carlos. The only thing I could find was a vague response that ‘Los gave during an interview where he said that he was not applying any pressure and was interested in his boys finding their own way without him putting the thumb on the scale.

I totally get that, and it was an important aspect of my and my dad’s relationship when I was choosing colleges.

But what I most would like to know is what the respective coaches and programs are discussing with Mom.

ZagsBlog has put together a very thorough update on the top uncommitted prospects of the 2025 class.

On3 has decided to put campus visit info behind a paywall, but it's still free here. Past and future visits to Durham:

Nate Ament (unofficial taken last year, official not yet scheduled)
Dwayne Aristode (official September 20)
Cameron and Cayden Boozer (official last year, unofficial August 31)
Brayden Burries (not yet scheduled)
Hudson Greer (not yet scheduled)
Jalen Haralson (not yet scheduled)
Shelton Henderson (official October 4)
Nikolas Khamenia (official September 13)
Acaden Lewis (official August 5)
Braylon Mullins (official October 4)
Koa Peat (official September 24)
Caleb Wilson (not yet scheduled)

Acaden Lewis' visit in early August was an unofficial. I believe he will have an official visit the weekend of the Bobby Hurley/ASU game on Oct 26-27. It is my understanding that multiple recruits will be in town for that event.

A nice pickup by Jeff Capel at Pitt. 6-4 top 100 (ish) combo guard Oamri Witherspoon. This guy comes into school with a not altogether different profile from Bub Carrington a year ago and we saw Bub blow up into a One and Done star for Pitt.

I feels like Pitt is perennially a bubble team and I think Capel needs to pick up the schedule strength a bit to make a stronger argument. This year he has West Virginia, Ohio State (A), Miss St (A), and LSU (N), and either Wisconsin or UCF (N). That's not murderers row, but does represent some decent opponents. Now, go out and get some wins, Jeff!

I mean Jarace Walker was the exact same ranking on 247 all the way back in 2022

You're right. I saw someone from the Athletic touting Harwell as Houston's best recruit ever per the recruiting services. It looks like 247's "rating" for Harwell is still higher than Walkers, 0.9965 vs. 0.9961, so maybe they're pinning it on that 0.0004's worth of difference.

That is a fair point. As soon as I saw your post I thought of Walker because at one time he was regarded around 7 or 8. I know Drexler was not highly recruited and I doubt Olajuwon was properly evaluated nationally.
