2025 Men's Basketball Recruiting

Is there still room for Wilkins after getting Dame today? I’d love to get him as well if there a Scholarship available.

Yes, there's room and a need as our 10th man. I think it's really valuable to run 5v5 scrimmages with high level talent. I've heard speculation it's a tight race between Maryland and Duke. No guarantee he chooses us.

We have just discussed theories on why that may be...CBs come from 247 which has a live announcement, CBs would lessen the suspense and the viewership.
Agreed that's probably the case. "Sounds like Wilkins isn't coming here" without a single CB at all was an odd thing to assume.

meanwhile for whatever it is worth, a staff writer for the Merlin site is stating there is now pessimism there about Wilkins.

Brevity noted above that the link to the announcement video was updated yesterday, seemingly around the time that Sarr committed. I think that indicates that Sarr’s commitment may have changed Wilkins’ decision, and my guess is that he would be more likely to move away from Duke as a result of Sarr’s commitment than to Duke. That all assumes the announcement is a pre-recorded message of course.

247 Sports put up a Sebastian Wilkins announcement video a few days ago, even before Braydon Hawthorne made his decision. But in the past few hours, they took down that video link and put up a new one, for some reason. (So the "Watch Live" link in the above post from Adam Finkelstein no longer works.)

I'm providing the updated link here, or you can watch it embedded below.

I wouldn't read too much into that. All 247 Sports did was change the URL of the announcement video; everything else is the same. They could have deleted the original one accidentally, for all we know.

Now, had 247 Sports just taken down the video and not replaced it, you might conclude that Wilkins was delaying his decision, or at least having second thoughts.

With the caveat that recruiting is crazypants, I am comforted by the fact that we haven't heard any rumblings about other targets. Duke seems pretty determined to have 10 rotation-capable players. I would expect to hear rumblings if Duke were feeling iffy (again).
