"I chose Duke because it truly felt like family," Fleary told ESPN. "Coach Kara Lawson and her staff are incredible people who care deeply about their players on and off the court. The team's culture, identity, and drive to win align perfectly with who I am as a person and as an athlete. I know Duke will push me to grow both academically and athletically, and prepare me for the next level."

For the 2026 recruiting class, Autumn Fleary is the 4th ESPN top 100 recruit to commit to Duke, and the 20th to choose an ACC school.

Fleary is a true point guard in every sense of the word the way she handles the ball, breaks down defenders in the pick and roll game and, most importantly, wins. ...Projecting Final Four expectations for Duke's lineup of the future -- which includes guard Emilee Skinner of the 2025 class and redshirt freshman Arianna Roberson, plus the sophomore class of Toby Fournier and Riley Nelson -- is not far-fetched...Her defensive prowess, particularly on the ball with the ability to pick up 94 feet, is perfect for the Duke system.

Duke with the #2 recruiting class.

That set of rankings was last updated October 13, so look for Duke to move up to #1 when they add the Autumn Fleary commitment for the next 247 Composite Team Rankings.

As of then, Kenny Brooks and Kentucky were at the top. But here's a current comparison, using 247's own composite player rankings.

Duke
#11 Autumn Fleary
#12 Bella Flemings
#31 Sanai Green
#49 Taylor Sofilkanich

Kentucky
#14 Maddyn Greenway
#15 Savvy Swords
#37 Emily McDonald

With the recent flurry of commitments, there will be a LOT of movement in that chart! I don't see anyone moving past us for the top spot - even those like UNC who have a top 10 pick.

In Kara we trust!
By the way, IF what Brevity says is true (and I think it's a law that says it is), that means that Duke will have had three consecutive coaches with this honor. G and P both did it multiple times.

Johnson scored 21 points in her three years at Pepperdine. As mentioned about, she is almost definitely a practice player. And a two year starter might start from time to time? Probably. OK, that one’s not as clear, as one of Jaydn or Emilee are likely to come off the bench, along with Riley. (I don’t see either senior guard coming off the bench, but who knows right now.)

We will need Roberson as our primary big reserve if healthy (assuming both Delaney and Toby start) Jordan will fit in as a part-time player, maybe more if she’s shown enough improvement from last year (last year’s early season Jordan would be great.)

I expect we’ll go nine deep if we keep up the defensive intensity from the past years. A wild card is Anna Wikstrom. I don’t know if anybody outside the team’s cone of silence know much about her play.

...Donovan who might start from time to time

Every year is different, but for the past 3 seasons, Coach Lawson has been loyal/firm with her starting lineup.

2022-23
33 games x 5 starters = 165 starting slots
148 of 165 for Balogun/Brown/Day-Wilson/Richardson/Taylor
17 of 165 for Corosdale/de Jesus/Oliver/Volker

2023-24
34 games x 5 starters = 170 starting slots
167 of 170 for Brown/Donovan/Jackson/Mair/Richardson
3 of 170 for Emsbo/Koabel

2024-25
37 games x 5 starters = 185 starting slots
185 of 185 for Donovan/Jackson/Mair/Richardson/Thomas

I don't know if Duke was the only team to use the same starting lineup in every game last year, but they were the only ranked team to do that.

A wild card is Anna Wikstrom. I don’t know if anybody outside the team’s cone of silence know much about her play.
I personally don't think she's very significant. I watched some videos of her play in international competition early last summer. She is a legitimately good shooter, but she doesn't bring a lot else to the table that I can see. She is fairly slow, and didn't really show much on defense or as a playmaker.

More importantly than my amateur observations, though, are the coaches. When the coaches talk about the team's newcomers, Anna is inevitably the last person mentioned. On occasion (OK, once that I remember), they forgot to mention her entirely. When they mention her, it's almost always done in passing, with no details or descriptions about her play offered.

Given that this matches the eye test, I'll be quite surprised if Wikstrom proves to be any kind of wildcard. I have her pegged as the type of player who will get minutes only in the closing moments of blowouts, and given the schedule that Kara has assembled for this group, I don't expect those kinds of games to happen especially often. I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
