2024 U.S. Presidential election

The Teachers Union isn't only endorsing Harris and Walz, they are buying commercial time with three separate TV & radio ads in key locations against Trump/Vance.
A 30-second digital ad will run within five miles of campaign stops Vance is making over the next 50 days, including in Michigan and North Carolina. The ad, titled “A Lesson for JD Vance,” had AFT members ridiculing the vice presidential nominee for comments he made about female teachers.

The ads come after comments resurfaced from Vance back in 2021 about teachers who don’t have children.

He specifically went after Weingarten, saying “If she wants to brainwash and destroy the mind of children, she should have some of her own and leave ours the hell alone.”

And on the candidates without kids front, there's this.

"You can walk into a room like this where people cheer when you step onto the stage and you might think for a second that you’re kind of special," Huckabee Sanders told a crowd in Flint, Michigan. "Then you go home, and your kids remind you very quickly you’re actually not that big of a deal."

She added, "So my kids keep me humble. Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn't have anything keeping her humble."

My thought is that Sanders' kids are doing a terrible job.

Yeah, because Trump, with all of his kids, definitely just totally exudes humility🙄

Did Sarah Sanders drop the "Huckabee" part? I used to hear that every time she was introduced, and how it seems to just be "Sarah Sanders". Not that it's relevant to anything, I was just curious if anyone knew why?

Huckabee is included every time her name is mentioned in the article I linked, so I'm assuming no.

Yeah, and it struck me that it was different than I've heard on news broadcasts. Maybe it's just a few specific people and I just randomly happened to hear it without the "Huckabee" a couple times in row.

She's associated so much with her dad it is a little disconcerting to hear her just called "Sanders." I've had more than one "Bernie said what??" moment when I see a tweet or headline that just uses the surname.

Except Kamala Harris does have children. This is a direct insult to anyone who has step-children or adopted children. There's a whole lot of those out there, I honestly don't understand why the Rs feel they have to denigrate anyone who doesn't live EXACTLY like they do.

From a 'how do we get elected' standpoint, it's just plain stupid.

And then they'll turn right around and complain about SNAP and school lunches and people "having children they can't afford."

How do you think Deion, Barry, and the Colonel feel?!
And since this is the Duke Basketball Report, I will give the obligatory shoutout to Casey Sanders.

This constant need to bash other people by the Republicans reminds me of what a nightmare Trump's four years in office were. Everyone is the enemy. And no, there is no whataboutism on this, as hard as they try. Yet what is the craziest is that there are many people who strongly identify with groups that he and his loyal followers bash who still vote for him.

Forbes on Trump's hold-or-sell dilemma.

We found a company with a market cap of $3.1 billion—an almost inexplicable valuation given that the underlying enterprise is no larger than the size of a small family business. It has declining revenues, no profits, and is embroiled in multiple lawsuits. The company even confesses it made material misstatements in its financials reporting with no clear timeline of when it will be able to remedy them.
The company made revenues of just $1.6 million in the first half of 2024, a decline of 30% from the year before. It posted a net loss of $344 million for the period, as total costs rose 1,104% from $9.8 million to $118.5 million, according to TMTG’s latest quarterly earnings report.

And then there's this, which made me LOLOL:

...or he can hold on to them and face the daunting prospect of turning TMTG and Truth Social into a genuine tech and media business.

This will be fascinating to watch. The stock is down to a new low of $15.50, but it should be able to stay above $12 for 2 more days. If Trump ditches, this might be the one thing that would lose him a lot of supporters (those who hold stock). But we can be pretty sure the others on lockout will want to cash in because they're not running for office. Does he want the money or the votes? Fire up the popcorn popper.

Who knows but I could easily see him going for the cash

I mean he has to right?!From a business sense, this is the biggest arbitrage opportunity ever (might be a little exaggeration). Unless, of course he found some morality or just isn’t that great of a businessman…
