I was on the subway in NYC yesterday eavesdropping on a conversation between two guys in their late 30s who were talking about driving to PA for the day Saturday or Sunday to do doorknocking. Agree that it is more often women but please don't write off men.

I don't write them off.

I think it’s a combo of him always being a poor organizer and relying on organic messianic passion in his followers. Someone is definitely dropping the signs in public spaces on my area for trump and Harris. Have yet to see any canvassers for either side but expect to get a knock this weekend (we’re also out with the kids a lot).
It may also be that Laura Trump has no experience running political operations, and they spent a good part of their money on legal fees instead of ground troops.
On this front it's actually them knowing exactly what they are doing. They knowing designed this system to funnel as much money to the Trump campaign. They were charging down ballot candidates a minimum 5% fee to use his NIL. They took 100% the first X amount of donations and then 50% after that on co-sponsored fundraisers. They funneled peanuts down to state GOP coffers which previous non Trump camps did not do. Local GOP branches are getting even smaller scraps and that's mainly from the Mitch's fundraiser branch. The SuperPacs and dark money pools will provide the paraphernalia. They might even spend a little for paid canvassers but they are much less effective that volunteers. The GOP probably could get volunteers but local offices don't have the staff to train, organize and monitor them.

Personally I’m writing NV & NC off and see NM and GA as likely Trump. If Harris wins the usual plus PA, WI, MI and that single EV does she get to 270?

He's suggesting she go to the front lines of any war zone with a rifle and then she'd be less of a war hawk. This article is a bit better and provides more context. If CNN portrayed it as a call for execution by firing squad, they dropped the ball.

Nonsense unless you believe the Russians have only nine guns. I think they have more

I would honestly rather Trump win the election outright than Harris get enough votes to win only for the states GOP party to not certify their votes, or delay sending electors, anything where they are transparently trying to steal the election. To me, that would constitute an insurrection and probably justify Biden using emergency powers.
If Trump wins the EC, then well that sucks but thats the game. If he loses and tries hijinks, then its going to be bad. He doesn't care what happens to anyone, friend or foe, just as long as he wins. The question is will the rest of his lackeys go along with it. Who are the true believers that will do what he wants regardless of consequences, vs the opportunists that would be looking at a long jail sentence and can just find someone elses boots to lick when the party moves on from Trump?
I can't possibly agree less with this.

I agree with Clem, you're buying in to the MAGA playbook to exhaust everyone into submission. Stay strong!

Elie Mystal had a piece a day or two ago outlining what the "little secret" Trump and Johnson have been tittering about might be, in terms of a potential plan to soft coup his way back to the White House even if Harris wins in the actual voting. In broad terms, it goes like this:

2. Have one or two R-controlled states that vote for Harris (say, Wisconsin) refuse to certify their Electoral Votes/send their Electors to D.C. before December 11, the date on which they have to be submitted, relying on the confusion already sown.
Did Mystal analyze the revamped Title 3, US Code, which was specifically revised in response to Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election? I have only skimmed it, but don’t see obvious ways for a state legislature to prevent electors from casting their votes.

Ground game. I have been hearing/reading that Republicans have poor ground game in several places. This interview is about PA. If true I wonder why? Is the GOP so confident they don’t think they need it?
The NY Times' "The Daily" podcast had an episode on the campaigns' ground efforts. Harris's campaign has been doing all the traditional things. By contrast, they interviewed the head of the Republican Party in Maricopa County, Arizona, and he and other Trump volunteers were focused on their belief that the last election was stolen and "election integrity" this time. Trump was said to be okay with the focus, as he could take care of people getting out to vote.

I could see where door knocking pays off a lot less than it used to, and Trump definitely motivates a lot of traditionally low turnout voters to vote for and against him. Still, one would normally expect an all-of-the-above effort to get out the vote.
