Honestly playing that sloppy and still leading by 13 makes me feel better since this should be a 30-point winAside from 13 turnovers, that was a good half. Duke leads by 13, 43-30.
But 13 TOs in a half? Seriously? Y'all have been doing so much better!
Columbia is good, we are only expected per Massey to win by around 13. So being up by that much at half is impressiveHonestly playing that sloppy and still leading by 13 makes me feel better since this should be a 30-point win
I was just judging by its losses to Indiana (who lost by 30 to UNC) and Villanova who is pretty comparable to Indiana so far.Columbia is good, we are only expected per Massey to win by around 13. So being up by that much at half is impressive
Great quotes. Thanks. I love our coach.Duke 77, Columbia 61 (recap, box score, highlights, presser)
Senior Reigan Richardson paced four Duke players in double figures while the Blue Devil defense delivered a strong all-around performance en route to claiming a 77-61 victory over Columbia Sunday afternoon at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Richardson reached double digits for the third straight game and sixth time this season, spearheading the Duke (8-1) charge with 19 points, seven rebounds and a pair of assists. She was joined in double figures by graduate student Vanessa de Jesus, freshman Toby Fournier and sophomore Delaney Thomas who each scored 10 apiece. Thomas tied for the team high in rebounds with seven caroms of her own, including four on the offensive glass, while de Jesus quarterbacked the offense with precision tallying a game-high six dimes to just one turnover.
Defensively, the Blue Devils held Columbia (6-3) to their lowest point total (63) and field goal percentage (.375) of the year, and also forced the Lions into a season-high 23 turnovers.
Coach Lawson: “Yeah, this is my public service announcement. Any team that wants to play Duke, we will play you. Anybody in the country that wants to play us, we will play you. So, we took this game because they’re a fantastic team. We took this game because they can beat us. We went there [last season], we’ll go anywhere... We went to South Dakota State, we’ve been to Toledo, we’ve been to Florida Gulf Coast, we’ve been to all these places. So, anybody that wants to play, like, call me. If you don’t have my number, which you probably don’t, call someone on my staff. Okay, not many people have my number. I understand that, but just call me. We’ll play. Because what you get out of it, what you get out of it, is you learn about your team. You learn about your team, where you have some weak spots. Good teams show you where you’re weak. And, you want to know that about yourself. You want to know your blind spots as a team so that you can work on fixing them. If you just go through life and you think you don’t have any negative things about you, you’re a terrible person to be around, right? Like, I’ve been around some of those people, they don't think they do anything wrong. I want to know what we do wrong. I want to know what you can exploit about us. That doesn’t make us weak, it allows us to be stronger in the long run...” (source)

Coach says she'll play any team anywhere... to learn and grow as a team. Does this perhaps signify a shift in the ranking algorithms toward strength of schedule and less upon straight wins and losses?
Personally, I just take her at her word: We'll play anyone good, because it's how we get better. There's nothing in there about algorithms or building the sport, it's just simple education. The harder you study, the better you'll be when the test comes.Possibly, but my guess is that it’s more the influence of her former coach who came from the time before algorithms when the top programs had to play each other all the time to build the sport from the ground up.
