2024-2025 Men’s Basketball Season General Discussion

From this board's favorite coach, another comment showing his humble nature: "UConn coach Dan Hurley caught on camera telling the refs "don't turn your back on me, I'm the best coach in the f---ing sport."

Ahh, the joys of humility. I bet Dan Sr would be proud.

Any man who must say, “I am the king”, is no true king.

This is a pretty ridiculous level of arrogance from a coach. I feel bad for the refs, but at the same time, I love that there is a real villain in the sport once again. It used to be Coach K, but he never deserved that level of hate. This guy is a total douche. The drama is good for the overall product.

That said, I hope some of these refs grow a pair and just T him up, and throw him out of the game if neccessary. They are probably too scared to lose job opportunities, though. Coaches shouldn't have this much power.

Gotlieb, ha ha.
Houston holds Utah to 36 points. I don’t know much about Utah, but I know they’re a D1 school with scholarship athletes so 36 points is pretty stingy.
Go Duke! 9F!

This is just embarrassing and sad. Also until refs give him a technical, he will keep doing it

OTOH, I think the ref should not have turned his back on the #1 coach.

I think it's a massive improvement in our sport that the refs will listen calmly to the coaches' tirades during timeouts.

And after THE COACH went off on him, the ref needed to T him up and then turn his back on the arrogant $0B

My 2 cents

Yeah, you don't have to toss him. All the refs need to get together and agree to start giving him quick Ts. He will quickly learn how to behave.

Watching Arkansas tonight trailing by 12 at the half at home to a good Georgia team (they've since narrowed it to 5), they just look listless. Calipari may have truly lost his mojo at this point. He had every tool in the toolbox available to him when he took the job and fled UK. Yet this team just looks, well, utterly mediocre. How has Johnell Davis dropped from an 18ppg scorer to 8?

Maybe he’s just not a very good coach.

Wait, are we talking about John Calipari or Hubert Davis? 😉

I would prefer that he continues behaving like this and, resultantly, loses one or more meaningful games for his team.

That’s not fair to the current team members, but they must have known at least a little bit about his behavior when they decided to matriculate.

Let the free markets (recruiting and transfer portal) work things out.

He needs help. He's right up there with Bobby Knight. Matter of fact, he's worse than Bobby in my opinion. Both great coaches, but something upstairs is/was missing.

GoDuke!
