    Isaiah Evans

Those who did not get to see Tate Armstrong play missed a great player. If not for his injury, Duke would've been good his senior year. He played on the US Olympic team that season. Dean Smith the Olympic team coach selected him. With all his faults, Dean recognized great players. GoDuke!

Is it his defense and rebounding? I don't see it in his scoring or assisting. K Pom has Duke's defense #1 and the offense #10. Defense great and the offense good. I like Gillis' toughness, and I guess there will be times it will be needed, but I think there is a better option when it comes to...

Sion is more of a point guard than Caleb. Caleb seems to be better at the 2-guard and he played that role last season. The point-guard needs to be a good FT shooter and Caleb is not that. I thought Caleb had a good game coming off the bench against Auburn. GoDuke!

    Isaiah Evans

My son-in-law keeps up with high school sports, especially basketball. He told me that he thought Evans would have played more this season. He saw him play multiple times in high school. He said Isaiah is a great shooter/scorer and his defense was decent (high school play). However, he's not a...

My thoughts are that last year he had more time to get off his 3-point shot because of his great center. Teams dropped a guard or wing to help guard Eddy. I might be wrong. GoDuke!

Okay, what's become of ACC Hoops?

Money and coaching. Two of the biggest reasons for the ACC decline. Coaches have to recruit players. Either elite high school players and/or recruit through the portal. Some can do both and they are the winners. It looks like Jon has gone away from the low rated portal transfers that don't...

MBB: Duke 84, Auburn 78 Postgame Thread

    Players 3-point percentage: Cooper= .233 Kon= .356 Tyrese= .463 Isaiah= .500 Caleb= .321 Sion= .333 Mason= .261 Thought I would post this as it's a big part of our offense this season. Cooper's stats are intriguing because his form is great. I can see those numbers if he had Billy "Sky" King's...

I think Kon and Evans have beautiful form on their outside shots. I think Kon's problem has been the opposing coaching staff realizes Kon is a very good shooter and game plans to take that away. Just like game planning for Cooper's spin move. Having both Kon and Evans on the court at the same...

MBB: Duke 84, Auburn 78 Postgame Thread

I'm trying to catch up to the posts in this thread Scott, but I have to go ahead and respond on the bolded. I know Kon can shoot, and I guess Mason can too, but both have not shot well in the big games. I hope no one thinks Evans will take over Kon's spot in the rotation. Kon because of his size...

    Isaiah Evans

I like our odds if the opponent is keying on Kon and Evans. Cooper, Tyrese and Sion/Caleb should have a field day. Plus, whoever is the 5. Khaman or Maliq. GoDuke!

MOTM Poll: Duke vs. Auburn (December 4, 2024)

My thinking was Evans brought Duke back and then put them in the lead in that first half. This kept Duke from having to extend so much energy in getting back into the game in the 2nd half. There was more than one player who could be voted for. As mentioned, Evans and Maliq. Cooper, Proctor, Sion...

I don't know if having a great big man at the 5 helped Mason last season. He seems to shoot his 3s very quickly this season. Did he have more time to pull the trigger last season? He is a good man to have for depth as he's a sturdy looking guy. GoDuke!

MBB: Duke 84, Auburn 78 Postgame Thread

Looking at the box score for the game last night, I see that Gillis only had 5 minutes and it wasn't from foul trouble as he only had 2 fouls. Has Jon changed his 8-man rotation inserting Evans for Gillis or is it a game-to-game decision? I think it could be Jon sees the offense needed...

MBB: Duke 84, Auburn 78 Postgame Thread

If you can't enjoy this win, well, you need a check-up. Sure, there are some things that need to be worked on but all in all the team played well against one of the best teams in the county. Cooper made some plays that most freshman can't make against a top team. Double-double points and...
