    Who Stays, Who Goes

Maybe Houston clamped down on defense, forced us to slow down and get out of our rhythm. Other teams do good things, too.

    MBB: The 2025 Transfer Portal

That's my read on the situation as well. Duke needs a guard, even in a back-up role, who can spell Cayden B. and Foster. If he happens to be a Sion, even better.

    MBB: The 2025 Transfer Portal

I'm not exactly sure what you are disagreeing with. If Stojakovic is a 2/3, what do you see Evans as, considering Stojakovic is taller, heavier and a better rebounder? I see a lot of overlap in what they would bring to next year's team (I'm assuming Evans will play a bigger role next year...

    MBB: The 2025 Transfer Portal

I suspect he's being considered as a replacement for Evans, which may be a signal as to Evans direction next year. I looked at their respective stats last year, and it raises the issues: how do you compare a high usage player to a low usage player, and, does Duke need a high usage scorer? Was...

    Who Stays, Who Goes

Is "shot creation" a more polite description of hero-ball? I would point out that our shot creation in close games/clutch moments wasn't very good last year, despite having some players who were very good at getting good looks at the basket.

    Most devastating loss ever?

I have never found 1999 to be "devastating" because I thought Duke was outplayed. I thought that even while watching the game live. I found it more puzzling than anything. People on this board also tend to forget how good that UConn team was. They were #1 (in the AP poll) longer than Duke was. I...

    WBB: 2025 NCAA Tourney Thread

<shrug> Other than a weird hiccup against Tennessee in early February, it's been pretty clear that UConn was the best team in the country since the turn of the calendar, and in the last few weeks they have been otherworldly. It's why I considered the outcome of the tournament uninteresting...

If you take out dunks, you are also comparing apples and oranges because the women would include both contested and uncontested shots, while the men would pretty much only have contested shots.

A little disappointing Duke is only up four, given how thoroughly they outplayed SC in the 3rd quarter.

Don't be so pessimistic. We may play Maryland. Watching the game now. It's pretty ragged.

22-44 from three at this point. Video-game shooting. Both the volume and accuracy are astonishing.

I had heard that, too. The explanation I settled on was simpler: if they had reversed the semi-final match-ups, I think Duke wins. Michigan State was a very, very physical team, and I think beating them in the semi-finals took a lot out of Duke. UConn was a strong team, and I think they would...

I'm from Wisconsin, so I'm happy they had a good season, but I thought they were overseeded. I had them as a 5-6 seed (i.e., somewhere between 17-25-ish). E8 would be a (welcome) overachievement.

    2024-25 DWBB - ACC Champs!

When you fling the ball desperately at the hoop, it's not surprising when most don't go in. I know UNC is very good on the defensive end, but watching FSU, I can't figure out how they ranked so high in scoring. Yes, it doesn't help when their best scorer has a bad game, but this is ugly.
