Very cool. I'm sure the COL is only getting worse in Asheville, too. Probably a pretty retiree destination + remote work + inflation +...

My wife did her Americorps service with a non-profit focused on economic empowerment and support services for low income and marginal communities. A lot of basic financial literacy, particularly around the danger of payday loans and building trust in financial instruments like savings accounts. Lots of job search skills, VITA tax prep and some job/life placement for, say, women escaping abusive relationships and trying to transition from shelters to work and independent living.
