there's a lot to be said for local micro vacations...one ironic thing about full blown vacations is that they're exhausting more often than not.

Agreed. We were contemplating a cross country road trip this summer, but the logistics were intimidating. That, and our gas crisis sorta scared us straight. So, a few family trips, long weekend in Chattanooga, hit the beach in the fall...

Just make sure you are going through Texas. If Texas doesn't have gas...it's hurricane season.

My son likes to bark when he sees doggies so I put 101 Dalmatians on in the background and it’s blowing his mind.

There are 108 NICUs in Texas and we are in 13 of them. So all over. I have 5-8 years worth of work in Texas, California and Georgia.

I have been to Houston a lot and San Antonio/Dallas once each. Never been to Austin. TexMex and BBQ. I'm pretty excited.

So bummed! Was on the group page in Facebook but the livestreamed wedding didn't show up there. Several of us were waiting - not sure where it was but we didn't find it.

My favorite lesser-known Buffett songs are ‘Tin Cup Chalice,’ ‘If the Phone Doesn’t Ring, It’s Me,’ and ‘One Particular Harbor.’

My favorite lesser known Warren Zevon songs are "Leave My Monkey Alone", "Reconsider Me", and "The Heartache". (All are on the same album - Sentimental Hygiene.)

    Oh yeah? Going somewhere?

It's a pretty fitting song that describes a particular type of expat. I've met a few that could have served as Buffett's inspiration for the song. There used to be a guy that posted on DBR who owned a hotel in Nicaragua for a bit. He had a story or eleven.
