Contest judging controversy? Or political donations?
Yes. It was one of those.

And I only vaguely know they have a contest.

    Fair play.

A lot more coverage of the contest controversy from a brief Googlin'.

More controversy for Nathan’s today. Probably messed up the Vegas O/U.

I thought to myself this morning - should I go to the 4th of July activities in my town since there's bound to be a shooting somewhere in America today? Then I heard the news that it had already happened so I went and got a hot dog/popcorn/slushie at the local event. I didn't stay long though. I'm not going to any fireworks tonight either.

I wish this post sounded more like satire. We live in odd times.

Fireworks and hot dogs in the driveway work just fine.

As Joey Chestnut shows, hotdogs give you strength:

We do. The 4th of July hasn't been a big deal for me for a long time. I'm not really into fireworks and the rest of it isn't too much fun once your kids get big enough.

That's how a proper chili dog should be eaten. Too often places only pay lip service to the chili part and give you a hot dog with chili rather than featuring the chili.

The chili dog, but a spork is hardly a replacement for a knife and fork.

Not supposed to be. It's a replacement for a spoon and a fork. You see, what the ad wizards did was take the first 2 letters from spoon and the last 3 from fork and just crammed them together to create a new word!

    I'd buy a Knork though.
