Feeling bad about this game ... we finished poorly ... Temple is senior-laden ... Temple going to fourth straight bowl ... we couldn't have our end of season football banquet ... Cut couldn't even travel to Shreveport for the Monday announcement party ... Temple seems fired up (at least its coach does) ... all the emotional intangibles, for now, seem to not be going our way ... hope getting some health will bring a renewed sense of energy for the Duke side ... totally different than last year where one could feel the NIU indifference from their coach while we're recording Motown Christmas songs that go viral ...
On the way home from work today, I caught Jim Rome's one minute opinion on the sports world.
He says to forget about this bowl and that, but it is the Independence Bowl that is the one to watch.
Duke vs. Temple because of the Temple interim Coach.
He plays a snippet of the public pep-talk.
And says that Temple should hire the guy.
I don't know if the guy can coach, but he can certainly get some attention.

From Chris Fallica on Twitter: "David Cutcliffe is 8-2 ATS in bowl games as a head coach (4-1 at Duke, 4-1 at Ole Miss). As an underdog, Cutcliffe’s teams are 6-1 ATS with four outright wins. The one ATS loss – the unmentionable events in 2012."
Also from Fallica, answering -- to a degree -- a question asked upthread: "Last year there were 6 teams in early bowl games (pre-New Year's Eve) that entered bowls in midst of a coaching change (FSU, A&M, Oregon, UCLA, Ariz St, SMU). Those 6 went 1-5. Only FSU, which was a massive favorite vs USM won. App St, Utah St, Temple all fit mold this year."

Who knows, maybe the rah rah interim coach is less rah rah now that Diaz was hired instead of him...one can hope.
My first thought exactly....this hiring seems to kind of take the air out of the rah rah balloon....it's like a current flowing in the other direction. It's a bit of a confusing signal to the players, regardless of how the interim (and maybe new) coach try and downplay it.
As we saw in the WF game, intangibles can play a massive role in the outcome of games. They always do in bowl games (the dis-respected team almost always beats the power team in a bowl when that power team expected to be in the playoffs, etc...).
This makes me feel instantly better about the intangibles. At least for now.
I guess Foley did interview for the job: https://247sports.com/college/temple...ley-126050709/
