My Outer Banks trip starts tomorrow. I might have mentioned that upthread, but there it is again. What else is this thread for?

I posted this on the "other" thread, but it seemed to get immediately lost among yammering. My neighbor's grandmother voted early yesterday. Not terribly unique, except that she just turned 101 and was born before women had the right to vote. Yesterday, she voted for a woman for president (to keep this nonpartisan, I won't tell you which one). The passage of time is truly amazing.

Also, her granddaughter posted live video on FB and it has over 4,000 hits.

I thought it was a ray of optimism in the midst of a truly depressing political season.

Spent last weekend in Pittsburgh. Went by the family homesteads from the 2 times the family lived there. I only lived there twice. Met the current owner. He was leaving as we all piled out of the van. I thought he might wonder why 5 strangers were standing there looking at his house so went up to talk to him. We got pictures of the 3 sisters on the porch and then wandered all around the outside of the house - with his permission.

    In that order.
Saw but did not eat. Sister and niece did not give it good reviews. We did find a really good bakery in Lawrenceville. Great pastries and a delicious birthday cake.

This made me smile to imagine your marauding bunch of citizens putting the neighborhood on alert. He sounds like a nice, if slightly alarmed man!

Agreed, our Primante's experience was also rather blah. Too much bread up in there. I'll bet the stadium steaks at any of the ballparks are far superior.
Happy to hear that the cake was good. I could eat a big old slab of cake any time of day.

I need to get out more...
Nothing incites bodily violence quicker than a Duke fan turning in your direction and saying 'scoreboard.'

If Gibbs were there, than yes it would be Ducky!

The cake was delicious - sponge cake with chocolate mousse.

I'd bank on the outerside chance that you'll have a great trip.

I'm sure someone will put a Corolla-ry on this exchange, too.

Getting wings tonight, at what I consider, one of the two-best wings places in the city. Today is a good day.

It caught me by surprise, but, the first time a woman accepted a nomination for POTUS from a major political party - it got really dusty in the room.

    Ymm, Weeping Radish Corolla Light!

Well, not really. I don't like light, pale ales. Gimme a stout any day...

So, Corollas have a matronly reputation at least compared to their main competition, the Civic.
