I liked JD's front-page article on Coach K talking to the team. "You are Duke Football".
GoDuke!
I hope they don't miss any free throws!
Nothing incites bodily violence quicker than a Duke fan turning in your direction and saying 'scoreboard.'
For the 42nd year in a row, the Defense is ahead of the Offense. Hoping one of the QBs breaks out from the pack.
The Preseason AP Poll has been released. Here's where things stand, with one fifth of the poll occupied by ACC teams. Duke plays three of the top 25.

It seems like the ACC tends to have more teams in the football Top 25 than the basketball Top 25 lately (for a rough example, we only have 3 teams (Duke, unc, UVA) in ESPN's "Way Too Early Top 25", with Miami on the "next in line" group: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...nkings-2022-23). And Duke was the only ACC team in the top 25 for most of last season.
Does this indicate we are a more successful football conference than basketball conference now? Or is this more a function of there being less non-Power-5 teams that can crack the football top 25, versus in basketball where there are a greater number of potential schools overall -- Gonzaga, Villanova, Houston, and a slew of mid-majors (e.g. the Creightons of the world) -- to contend for ranking?
Either way, it is interesting to consider this breakdown in regards to the conference realignment discussion and overall standing of the ACC amongst the conferences. We have more teams (five) in the preseason football top 25 than the Big 10 (four teams, though future Big 10 member USC is also ranked, which would tie the conferences) and only one less team than the SEC (six teams).
Well, more than just rankings. I think overall what you are drawing out is a good point. Say you are a prime basketball recruit, and all of those schools are targeting you. If you are interested more than just being ranked, but actually playing for a championship, then your interest could be legitimately mutual with each of them.
Now say that you are a prime football recruit. If you have the same championship goals in mind, then every school that is not part of a P5 conference, with exception to Notre Dame, is instantly ruled out. Like USF showed a few years ago, you can be undefeated, but it sucks to be you while you watch the playoff contenders be announced.
And because of that, for the most part the top 25 will be filled with P5 universities, since they are the ones filled with the best recruits and players.

Folks, I really don't think Duke has an overenthusiasm problem among the fanbase, no need to try to "reign things in."
