About 1/2 mile from my house was the closest one got in Ohio. The telephone/electric pole that the warning siren was mounted on was more like 50 feet from my house...

Our neighborhood was decimated when an ef3 hit in the early 2000s. We had about $50,000 worth of damage but there were houses that were completely destroyed in the neighborhood. It was startling. And that's a very strong tornado for North Carolina.
